Arrest Report - May 3, 2017

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 43 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Derrick Aucoin, 42, 279 Lima Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 7:50 am for stop sign and yield sign violation, operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and no motor vehicle insurance. A deputy investigating a 2 vehicle crash in Bayou Vista found that Aucoin failed to yield to oncoming traffic as he turned off US Highway 90 onto LA Highway 182. The deputy also found that Aucoin was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and without insurance. Aucoin was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.

 

James Austin, Jr., 17, 301 Patti Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 10:35 am for assault on a school teacher. A school resource officer responded to a report of a possible assault at the St. Mary Alternative Program school in Verdunville. Through investigation, the SRO found evidence that Austin approached a school employee in a threatening manner. Austin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Austin was released on a $1,000 bond.

 

Abel Terrell, 22, 609 Sebby’s Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 12:28 pm on the following warrants:

  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, no proof of insurance, and failure to honor written promise to appear
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, illegal possession of weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of Schedule I drugs

Terrell turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. A deputy transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

John Diggs, Sr., 56, 137 Truman Circle, Thibodaux, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 4:19 pm on a warrant for the following warrants:

  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace
  • Warrant for failure to appear for remaining where forbidden, flight from an officer, and theft
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of criminal damage to property, simple battery, aggravated assault, and entry after being forbidden.

While responding to an unrelated complaint at a residence in Amelia, a deputy made contact with Diggs and located the active warrants for his arrest. Diggs was transported to the ST. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

Ronnie Lumpkin, 46, 598 Kern Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 4:46 pm on an Iberia Parish warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy observed a subject in the roadway on Sorrel Rail Road Row. The deputy identified the subject as Lumpkin and located the active warrant for his arrest. Lumpkin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

Terri Ganel, 50, 7212 Highway 182 Apt 22, Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 10:35 am on a warrant for theft of goods. On April 29, 2017, a deputy responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart in Bayou Vista. The deputy obtained video surveillance footage of the suspect concealing several bottles of alcohol in bags before leaving the store without paying for the items. A picture of the suspect was released through the Public Information Office. A short time later, detectives received multiple tips and information about the suspects identity. The detective positively identified the suspect as Ganel and obtained a warrant for her arrest. Ganel turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. Ganel was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.

Carl Leblanc, Jr., 28, 184 Country Boy Court, Houma, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 7:25 pm for improper lane usage and possession of Schedule I (marijuana). A deputy patrolling US Highway 90 in Berwick observed a vehicle crossing onto the shoulder of the roadway. The deputy conducted a traffic stop in Morgan City and spoke with the driver, identified as Leblanc. While speaking with him, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed a marijuana cigarette inside the van. The marijuana was recovered. Leblanc was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.

Nicole Borja, 29, 115 Ann Street, Bayou L’Ourse, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 7:48 pm for speeding. A deputy patrolling US Highway 90 in Berwick observed a vehicle traveling 73 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour construction zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as Borja. She was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.

Willis Jenkins, III, 1006 Willow Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 9:57 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle with improper tail lights, and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for his arrest. Jenkins was released on a $5,000 bond.

 

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that the Narcotics Section made the following arrests: 

Joshua D. Johnson, 25, 137 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 3:02 pm on 2 warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Narcotics detectives patrolling Amelia observed Johnson standing in the yard of a residence. Detectives knew Johnson was wanted on the warrants and took him into custody. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $200,000.

 

Deonte Harris, 19, 2602 Clines Lane Lot #9, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 2:37 pm for possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II (cocaine) with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia. Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section conducted a search warrant at Harris’ residence and located bags of cocaine, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia including a digital scale. Detectives also collected evidence that Harris sold the illegal drugs. Harris was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

Terrance White, 40, 101 Pluto Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 2, 2017 at 5:56 pm for the following offenses:

  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana)
  • Possession of Schedule II (cocaine) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
  • Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number
  • Illegal possession of stolen firearms

Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section conducted a search warrant at White’s residence and located cocaine and marijuana. Detectives also recovered 2 firearms; one with an obliterated serial number and one that was reported stolen out of Berwick. White has a prior felony conviction. Following the investigation, White was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
