St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 122 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Isaiah Blum, 39, 269 Harvest Court, Thibodaux, LA was arrested on April 21, 2017 at 11:38 am for driving under suspension. A deputy working on US Highway 90 in Berwick observed a vehicle traveling 62 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour construction zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, Blum, the deputy found that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Blum was also cited for speeding. He was released on a summons to appear in court on July 10, 2017.
Wilbur J. Richard, Jr., 33, 1132 Highway 695 Kaplan, LA was arrested on April 22, 2017 at 12:27 am for the following offenses:
- Resisting an officer
- Monetary instrument abuse
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks
A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista stopped to speak with a subject who was walking on Arlington Road. The deputy identified the subject as Richard and located 2 active warrants for his arrest. During the arrest, Richard forcefully pulled away from the deputy and attempted to flee on foot. During a search of Richard, the deputy located a counterfeit $100 bill. Richard was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Kendell Williams, 35, 316 Easy Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 22, 2017 at 5:34 pm for the following offenses:
- General speed law (violation)
- Obstruction of justice
- Resisting a police officer with force or violence
- Possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute
- Possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles
A deputy patrolling Irish Bend Road in Franklin observed a vehicle traveling 38 miles per hour in a posted 25 miles per hour zone and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy identified the driver as Williams and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the car. The deputy received consent to search Williams and the vehicle. A second deputy arrived on scene to assist in the investigation. As he was being detained, Williams repeatedly pulled away from a deputy to free himself causing a small laceration to one of the deputy’s hands. During the search, a deputy observed a rock of crack cocaine fall from Williams pants. Williams then attempted to discard the crack rock by throwing it. A deputy located a plastic bag containing additional rocks of crack cocaine on Williams and inside the vehicle along with a daiquiri. Williams was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Williams was released on a $8,000 bond.
Leonel Rodriquez, 28, #4 Odile Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on April 23, 2017 at 2:39 am for switched license plates, no driver’s license, and no insurance. A deputy assigned to patrol Amelia observed a car with a license plate that did not belong to a passenger vehicle. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Rodriquez. The deputy found that Rodriquez was operating the car without a driver’s license or insurance. Rodriquez was released on a summons to appear in court on July 10, 2017.
Ron D. Leonard, 35, 234 Jones Road #1, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on April 23, 2017 at 6:09 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Leonard turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. A deputy transported Leonard to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $22,278.80.
James Thibodaux, 59, 18990 Highway 182, Charenton, LA was arrested on April 24, 2017 at 2:57 am for aggravated second degree battery.
Jeffrey Loveless, 61, 18956 Highway 182, Charenton, LA was arrested on April 24, 2017 at 2:57 am for aggravated assault with a firearm.
Joseph Robertson, 52, 258 Jones Road, Four Corners, LA was arrested on April 24, 2017 at 2:57 am for criminal trespass.
At 10:45 pm on April 23, 2017, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at 18956 Highway 182 in Charenton. Detectives investigating the crime found evidence that Thibodaux and Loveless encountered multiple subjects on Thibodaux’s private property and fired several shots striking one of the subjects in the leg. The 31-year-old male was transported to Iberia Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wound. Detectives also identified Robertson as one of the subjects who was trespassing. Thibodaux, Loveless, and Robertson were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set for Thibodaux or Loveless. Bail is set at $1,000 for Robertson. The case remains under investigation.
