Arrest Report - March 29, 2017

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 40 complaints and reports the following arrests: 

 

Scottie Black, 28, 124 Cherokee Street, Charenton, LA was arrested on March 28, 2017 at 4:48 pm for simple battery. A deputy responded to a report of a fight that occurred outside of a residence in Charenton. With the assistance of Chitimacha Tribal Police Officers, the deputy located Black at his residence. The deputy spoke with the subjects involved and found evidence that Black struck a male victim in the face during an argument between the two. Black was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. He was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

Jakeysha Broussard, 32, 9371 Highway 90 W, Centerville, LA was arrested on March 28, 2017 at 4:31 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. While booking Broussard at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for her arrest. She was released on a $2,000 bond.

 

Charleston J. Grogan, 22, 218 Wren Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 29, 2017 at 2:50 am for the following offenses:

  • Unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling
  • Remaining where forbidden
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of domestic abuse battery and criminal damage to property
  • 2 warrants from the City Court of Morgan City for failure to appear and contempt of court

A Sheriff’s Office dispatcher received a 911 call of a subject attempting to gain entry into a residence in Amelia. The dispatcher remained on the phone with the victim until a deputy arrived at the location and secured the area. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the suspect began kicking the door of the residence and at one point entered the home. The victim pushed the suspect out. No injuries were reported. The deputy located the suspect nearby and identified him as Grogan. The deputy observed that Grogan was in his underwear and appeared disoriented. He was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. Following his release, he was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

  

The following arrests were made on March 27, 2017. 

Christine Cantrell, 29, 1102 Fourth Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested at 12:50 pm on a warrant for failure to appear for a drug court status conference. A correctional officer transported Cantrell from the East Baton Rouge Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $100,000.

 

Ariel Darby, 427 Seventh Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on at 3:56 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal trespass. While booking Darby at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for her arrest. No bail is set.

 

 

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that the Narcotics Section made the following arrests:

 

Gilbert Ramagos, III, 23, 1064 Grace Street, Siracusaville, LA was arrested on march 28, 2017 at 8:06 pm for following too closely, improper lane usage, and reckless operation of a vehicle.

 

Devon Marsh, 25, 148 Ciro Street, Siracusaville, LA was arrested on March 28, 2017 at 8:06 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone).

 

A detective of the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section patrolling Amelia observed a car following another vehicle too closely on Highway 182. The deputy also saw the car swerving across the fog line in an attempt to pass the other vehicle. The deputy then observed the car accelerate through railroad crossing arms that were activated and down as a train approached the intersection. The detective conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Ramagos, and passenger, Marsh. While speaking with the occupants, the detective smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed marijuana inside the car. The traffic stop occurred within

2,000 feet of a church. Ramagos was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. He was released on a $1,000 bond. Marsh was released on a summons to appear in court on June 13, 2017

 

John F. Shibley, 49, 225 Glenwood Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 28, 2017 at 7:51 pm on an Assumption Parish warrant for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute. A narcotics detective located Shibley at his residence on the warrant. Shibley was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
