Arrest Report - March 13, 2017

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 89 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Brittany Bolden, 28, 301 Gumpoint Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 10, 2017 at 8:08 am for maximum speed limit and driving with a suspended license. A deputy patrolling LA Highway 87 observed a vehicle traveling in Centerville at 72 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver, Bolden, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Bolden was released on a summons to appear in court on June 13, 2017.

 

Randi Burgess, 35, 601 Kelli Drive, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 10, 2017 at 9:05 am on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy received information from the Patterson Police that Burgess was at the department. Burgess was released on a summons to appear in court on June 13, 2017.

 

Joel P. Plaisance, 29, 1206 Houma Highlands Court, Houma, LA was arrested on March 10, 2017 at 12:48 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of hit and run driving. A correctional officer transported Plaisance from the Lafourche Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail is set at $2,500.

 

Shamorick Hensley, 37, 521 C. Trappey Street Jeanerette, LA was arrested on March 10, 2017 at 2:58 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. A correctional officer transported Hensley from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Hensley was released on a $700 bond.

 

Richard Verret, 52, 702 Felix Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on March 11, 2017 at 2:26 am for no motor vehicle insurance, expired vehicle registration, and expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. A deputy observed a vehicle traveling on LA Highway 87 in Jeanerette with its hazards on and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy found that the driver, Verret, was operating the vehicle without insurance and with expired registration and inspection. Verret was released on a summons to appear in court on June 13, 2017.

 

Jeremy L. Smith, 34, 1720 Highway 182, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 11, 2017 at 7:18 am for driving with a suspended license and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and operation a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Deputies en route to a request to remove a subject located a subject involved in the complaint near the intersection of Saturn and Polaris roads in Bayou Vista. Deputies found that Smith was operating the vehicle he was in with a suspended driver’s license and located an active warrant for his arrest. Smith was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

Yolanda M. Wiggins, 31, 2128 Becnel Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 11, 2017 at 6:59 pm for speeding, no motor vehicle insurance, and expired inspection sticker. A deputy observed a vehicle traveling on Irish Bend Road in Franklin at 40 miles per hour in a posted 25 miles per hour zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver, Wiggins, had no vehicle insurance and expired inspection. Wiggins was released on a summons to appear in court on June 13, 2017.

 

Jordan E. Haynes, 24, 156 Lot #1 Georgetown Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 11, 2017 at 11:34 pm for the following offenses:

  • Speeding
  • Possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles
  • Driving with a suspended license
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
  • Possession of Schedule I with intent to distribute
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs
  • Warrant from Franklin Police Department for failure to appear on the charges of careless operation, expired vehicle registration, and no seat belt

A deputy patrolling Irish Bend Road observed a vehicle traveling 35 miles per hour in a posted 25 miles per hour zone and conducted a traffic stop on Easy Street. While speaking with the driver, Haynes, the deputy observed an open beer inside the vehicle. The deputy also learned that there was marijuana in the truck and located a marijuana cigar in the ashtray. While searching the vehicle, the deputy also located a handgun, multiple small plastic bags, and a digital scale. Haynes was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and had active warrants for his arrest. Haynes was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement center for booking. No bail is set.

Alphonso Ruffin, 33, 1002 Washington Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 12, 2017 at 9:58 pm for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and careless operation of a motor vehicle. A deputy responded to a motorcycle crash on LA Highway 182 at Universe Street in Bayou Vista. The deputy located the vehicle and driver who was identified as Ruffin. The deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and observed that Ruffin was slurring as he spoke. Paramedics with Acadian Ambulance Services attended to Ruffin who later refused further treatment. Through the course of the crash investigation, the deputy found that Ruffin was attempting to turn onto LA Highway 182 when he lost control of the vehicle and was ejected from the motorcycle. The deputy conducted a standardized field sobriety test. Ruffin performed the test poorly. He later registered a 0.148g% blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Ruffin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

Charles Burbank, 33, 1629 Casa Calvo Street, New Orleans, LA was arrested on march 13, 2017 at 2:42 am for improper lane usage and driving with a suspended license. A deputy responding to a report of a reckless driver on US Highway 90 in Calumet located the suspect vehicle in Patterson and observed the car cross over onto the shoulder of the roadway and over the centerline. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and found that the driver, Burbank, was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Burbank was released on a summons to appear in court on June 13, 2017.

 

 

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that the Narcotics Section made the following arrests:

  

Brandon Laborde, 24, 100 Fairview Street, Kaplan, LA was arrested on March 10, 2017 at 3:20 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, and on a warrant for probation violation. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 Section was contacted to assist a Louisiana State Police trooper with a traffic stop on US Highway 90 in Patterson. Laborde was the driver of the vehicle. The detective with the K-9 Section received consent to search the vehicle and located a bag of marijuana, a pipe used to smoke marijuana, rolling papers, and 3 marijuana cigarettes. Laborde was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
