Boat & Trailer Theft Under Investigation in Franklin

On March 2, 2017, a deputy of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a theft of a boat and trailer from the yard of residence in the 2000 block of Irish Bend Road in Franklin. The deputy learned that the boat was taken sometime between 6:00 pm the prior evening, March 1, 2017, and 2:00 pm that day, March 2, 2017. Detectives are working active leads in the case. Investigators have reason to believe that the stolen boat may be in the western area of St. Mary Parish or Iberia Parish and are asking that the public be on the lookout for the watercraft. The boat is described as a 1994 aluminum Lake Sport registration #LA2868EM with a 1993 Yamaha motor on a 1972 silver galvanized boat trailer bearing the license plate number D836317. If you have information on the crime or the whereabouts of the stolen boat, trailer, or motor, please contact the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-828-1960, 985-384-1622, or by email at crimewatch@stmaryso.com.
