St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 28 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Juvenile male, 15, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 19, 2017 at 9:54 am for simple battery.
Juvenile male, 14, Centerville, LA was arrested on January 19, 2017 at 9:54 am for simple battery.
A school resource officer received a report of a fight that occurred at Centerville High School. The deputy conducting the investigation collected evidence that the juveniles were engaged in an ongoing argument that escalated into 2 physical encounters on 2 separate days. Both juveniles were released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Fredy Guillermo Ramos-Rodriguez, 30, 125 Village Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on January 19, 2017 at 10:09 pm for simple assault and resisting an officer. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Amelia in reference to a report of a subject yelling. The deputy identified the subject as Rodriguez. When Rodriguez saw the deputy he fled. The deputy pursued Rodriguez and detained him a short time later. During the subsequent investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Rodriguez was engaged in an argument with a female victim when he raised his hand to her and made threatening remarks against her life. Rodriguez was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $3,500.
Jason Derouen, 36, 1700 Juanita Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on January 20, 2017 at 12:21 am for reckless operation of a vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and possession of Schedule II (Vyvanse). A deputy patrolling Highway 90 in the Ricohoc area observed a motorcycle traveling at 103 miles per hour in a posted 70 miles per hour zone. Another deputy intercepted the driver near Highway 83 and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy spoke with the driver, identified as Derouen, and found that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. The deputy received consent to search Derouen and located 2 Vyvanse pills. Derouen was unable to provide a prescription for the drugs. Derouen was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
