Arrest Report - September 16, 2016

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:  

Dean Aucoin, 46, 208 Bowman Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 6:50 pm for the following offenses:

- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine)

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)

- Possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor

- Possession of Schedule II (hydrocodone) with intent to distribute

 

Melissa Chavers, 47, 208 Bowman Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 6:50 pm for the following offenses:

- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine)

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)

- Possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor

 

Cameron Aucoin, 17, 208 Bowman Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 6:50 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section along with officers of the Berwick Police Department executed a search warrant at the above listed address. Detectives encountered D. Aucoin, Chavers, and C. Aucoin. They also made contact with a juvenile in the residence at the time of the investigation. Detectives located several bags of methamphetamine and bags of hydrocodone pills. The items were packaged in a manner consistent with the street level sale of illegal drugs. During the investigation, detectives found additional evidence that Chavers and Aucoin were selling the drugs. Detectives also located several water pipes used for smoking marijuana in C. Aucoin’s room. The residence is located less than a block from Berwick Elementary School. C. Aucoin was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016. D. Aucoin and Chavers were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

 

Chantal Burke, 22, 521 Tiffany Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 3:34 pm on a warrant for the following offenses:

- Possession of marijuana

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

- Possession of Schedule II (Adderall)

- Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax)

On August 3, 2016, the K-9 Unit of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section conducted a traffic stop on Waveland Street in Patterson and made contact with a passenger, identified as Burke. The detective received consent to search the vehicle and located prescription pill bottles with no labels containing Adderall and Xanax pills as well as a bag containing marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia in Burke’s purse. Burke was also found to have an active warrant from Patterson Police. Burke was arrested on that warrant at the time of the traffic stop. Continuing the investigation into the illegal drugs that were located, the detective obtained another warrant for Burke’s arrest. While traveling in Baldwin, the detective observed Burke on Ralph Darden Memorial Parkway, made contact with her, and transported her to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Donna Lahre, 60, 6610 Flamingo Way, St. Petersburg, FL was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 11:39 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge on operating a vehicle while intoxicated. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for Lahre’s arrest. Bail is set at $750.

 

Valinda G. Otis, 35, 1719 South Iberia Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 3:50 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension. A correctional officer transported Otis from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Otis was released on a $1,500 bond.

 

Jacob D. Prince, 39, 650 Highway 318, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 2:55 pm for careless operation of a motor vehicle and possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles. On September 14, 2016, a deputy was dispatched to a report of a vehicle crash on Highway 90 at Highway 318. The deputy located the single vehicle crash and observed an open container of alcohol inside. The driver, identified as Prince, was transported to an area hospital. The following day, the deputy continued the investigation into the crash and found that Prince was operating the vehicle carelessly. Prince was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Juan Salazar-Maldanado, 24, 6720 Highway 182, Lot 15, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 1:15 pm on a warrant for aggravated second degree battery.

 

Rigobert Cruz-Barrios, 30, 33 Odile Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 1:45 pm on a warrant for aggravated second degree battery.

 

On June 19, 2016, a deputy responded to a report of a fight at a bar on Highway 182 in Amelia. The deputy found evidence that Maldonado and Barrios were involved in a physical altercation with two other male subjects. The deputy also learned that during the fight, 3 pool sticks were damaged. Maldonado and Barrios were arrested for disturbing the peace fighting and criminal damage to property. Continuing the investigation, the deputy made contact with a male victim the following morning. The victim sustained a gash to his head requiring medical treatment. The deputy collected evidence that Maldanado and Barrios struck the victim in the head with pool sticks. The deputy obtained warrants for their arrest. Maldanado and Barrios were located at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin and taken into custody. The two suspects were transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Barry A. Jones, Jr., 29, 136 Georgetown Lane, Glencoe, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 11:23 am on a warrant for theft and theft of goods. A deputy was dispatched to a report of a theft at a store on Cypremort Road in Four Corners. The deputy learned from the complainant that over $600 in cash was taken from a money deposit bag. The deputy identified Jones as a suspect. During the course of the investigation, a detective assigned to the case collected evidence indicating that Jones took the money and a snack cake from the store. The detective obtained a warrant for Jones’ arrest. Jones turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. He was transported to the parish jail for booking. Jones was released on a $2,000 bond.

 

Eric Gaskins, 45, 2414 Apple Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 10:30 pm for the following offenses:

- Criminal damage to property

- 2 counts resisting a police officer

- 2 counts battery of a police officer

- Disturbing the peace

After receiving a call that there was some concern for the welfare of a male subject, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Friendship Alley to make contact with the subject. Upon arrival, deputies observed two subjects holding down another male subject identified as Gaskins. As deputies worked to detain Gaskins, he began swinging his arms striking a deputy in the face. Gaskins then pushed another deputy. After detaining Gaskins, deputies spoke with several witnesses who explained that the man charged the residence and broke a screen door gaining entry to a porch. That is when the two subjects brought him into the yard and held him until deputies arrived. Because of his excited state, Gaskins was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center. After being released from the hospital, deputies transported Gaskins to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Anthony J. Stelly, 21, 1004 Bruce Circle, Breaux Bridge, LA was arrested on September 15, 2016 at 11:17 pm for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation, and possession of an (open) container of alcohol in motor vehicles. A deputy working in the Siracusa area observed a vehicle traveling 83 miles an hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone on Highway 182. The deputy conducted a traffic stop. While approaching the driver, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the car. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Stelly. While speaking with him, he admitted that he had been drinking. The deputy performed a field sobriety test on which Stelly performed poorly. Stelly later registered a 0.153g% blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. The deputy also located over a dozen open containers of beer inside the car. Stelly was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

The following arrest was made on September 14, 2016.

Troy D. Pigeon, 50, 1600 Butternut Avenue, Metarie, LA was arrested at 12:42 am for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation of a motor vehicle with a crash, and public intimidation. A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Chitimacha Trail in Charenton. The deputy made contact with the driver, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. Pigeon performed poorly on a standardized field sobriety test. During the course of the investigation, Pigeon repeatedly made verbal threats to the deputy. Pigeon later registered a 0.233g% blood alcohol content on a breath test. He was transported to the parish jail for booking. Pigeon was released on a $4,500 bond.
