Arrest Report - September 12, 2016

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 95 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Juvenile male, 12, Centerville, LA was arrested on September 9, 2016 at 1:31 pm for simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a battery that reportedly occurred at Centerville High School. During the course of the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that the juvenile male kicked another student. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

 

Josef Scott, 34, 1403 Rebecca Avenue, Hattiesburg, MS was arrested on September 9, 2016 at 12:43 pm for driving with a suspended license. A deputy assigned to patrol Highway 90 near LA 318 observed a vehicle traveling 68 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour construction zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Scott. Scott was unable to provide a valid driver’s license. The deputy found that he was operating the vehicle with a driver’s license that was listed as suspended. Scott was also cited for the speeding violation. He was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

April G. Nosworthy, 30, 705 Funderburk Avenue, Houma, LA was arrested on September 9, 2016 at 2:13 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. A correctional officer transported Nosworthy from the Terrebonne Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Nosworthy was later released.

 

Reginald C. Morgan, Jr., 44, 913 Pueblo Drive, Houma, LA was arrested on September 9, 2016 at 2:15 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt and speeding and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and stop sign violation. A correctional officer transported Morgan from the Terrebonne Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants. Bail is set at $813.50.

 

Galen Ford, 24, 812 Ditch Avenue, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 9, 2016 at 5:30 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle with an expired motor vehicle inspection and operating a vehicle no insurance. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for Ford’s arrest. Ford was released on a $500 bond.

 

Alvin Crochet, 111 Robicheaux Lane, Centerville, LA was arrested on September 9, 2016 at 8 :24 pm for violation of the parish nuisance animal ordinance. On Friday morning, a deputy responded to an animal complaint at a residence in Centerville. The deputy found evidence that Crochet’s dog was running loose and going onto a neighbor’s property. The deputy advised Crochet about the parish leash and nuisance animal ordinance. Later that evening, the Sheriff’s Office received a second complaint involving Crochet’s dog entering onto the neighbor’s property. Crochet was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Jashala Washington, 18, 208 Pickett Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 10, 2016 at 8:51 pm for maximum speed limit violation and no motor vehicle insurance. A deputy patrolling Irish Bend Road observed a vehicle traveling 43 miles per hour in a posted 25 miles per hour zone. The deputy made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as Washington. The driver was unable to provide proof of insurance. The deputy then found that the insurance on the vehicle had been cancelled. Washington was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Marquis J. Brown, 23, 109 Edward Lane, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on September 10, 2016 at 10:49 pm for switched license plate, no driver’s license, and no motor vehicle insurance.

 

Orlando Jordan, 35, 945 Highway 318, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on September 10, 2016 at 11:09 pm for possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles and possession of Schedule II (Lortab).

 

A deputy assigned to patrol the Highway 318 area observed a vehicle with no visible license plate and conducted a traffic stop at the Highway 90 intersection. After wiping mud from a window on the vehicle, the deputy located a temporary tag that appeared to have been altered. The deputy made contact with the driver, Brown, who was unable to provide a license or proof of insurance. The deputy then learned that Brown was operating the vehicle with no insurance. The deputy also made contact with a passenger, Jordan, and observed an open can of beer. Through the course of the investigation, the deputy found evidence that the beer belonged to Jordan. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and also located a Lortab pill belonging to Jordan. Brown was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016. Jordan was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $3,000.

 

Brad Ronsonet, 41, 202 Bayou Drive, Charenton, LA was arrested on September 11, 2016 at 1:37 am for obstructing a public roadway, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles, and no proof of insurance. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a reckless driver at Katy Bridge Approach Road in the Franklin area. The deputy located the suspect vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway of Chauvin Lane blocking all lanes of travel. The deputy then observed the driver get out of the pick-up truck and stumble into a nearby ditch. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Ronsonet, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. The deputy conducted a field sobriety test on which Ronsonet performed poorly. The deputy also observed two open bottles of beer inside the truck. Also, Ronsonet was unable to provide proof of insurance for the vehicle. During the investigation, Ronsonet registered a 0.189g% blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Ronsonet was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

Charlie Hurst, Jr., 25, 282 Eves Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on September 11, 2016 at 4:28 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, proper equipment required on vehicle, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy knew Hurst was wanted on an active warrant spotted him at a business on Martin Luther King Road in Baldwin. The deputy made contact with Hurst and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Hurst was released on a $365 bond.

 

Anthony Kelly, 32, 110 Baker Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 11, 2016 at 8:43 pm for turning movements required, driving under suspension, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal mischief. A deputy patrolling the Franklin area observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn at the intersection of Highway 182 and Kemper Road. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as Kelly. While speaking with Kelly, the deputy learned that he was operating the vehicle with a license that was listed as suspended and that he had an active warrant for his arrest. The deputy transported Kelly to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $1,750.

 

Brian Fontenot, 38, 121 Mitchell Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 11, 2016 at 9:22 pm for head lamps required, license plate light required, and no insurance. A deputy traveling on Irish Bend Road observed a vehicle with only one working headlight and no license plate lights. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Fontenot, and learned that he was operating the vehicle without insurance. Fontenot was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

James Zepeda, 50, 511 Joey Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on September 11, 2016 at 10:44 pm for failure to signal a turn, no driver’s license, and a warrant from Harris County Texas. A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn at the intersection of highway 182 and Pluto Street. The deputy made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as Zepeda. Zepeda was unable to provide a valid driver’s license. The deputy also found that he was wanted on an active warrant out of Texas. The deputy transported Zepeda to the parish jail for booking. Bail on the traffic charges is set at $500.

 

Travis Colbert, 37, 2278 Chitimacha Trail, Charenton, LA was arrested on September 11, 2016 at 11:43 pm on 3 warrants for failure to appear for a drug court status conference. A deputy patrolling the Franklin area observed a vehicle approaching the intersection of Martin Luther King Street and Chitimacha Trail at a high rate of speed. During the subsequent traffic stop, the deputy observed that Colbert was a passenger in the vehicle. The deputy knew Colbert was wanted on the active warrants. Colbert was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $300,000.

 

Riley Lee, 42, 224 Gum Point Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 12, 2016 at 3:55 am for maximum speed limit violation and driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling Irish Bend Road observed a vehicle traveling 50 miles per hour in a posted 25 miles per hour zone and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy spoke with the driver, Lee, and learned that he was operating the vehicle with a driver’s license that was listed as suspended. Lee was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.
