Arrest Report - September 6, 2016

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:

 

Lavontre Johnson, 17, 3522 Highway 182 Apt. 35, Berwick, LA was arrested on September 2, 2016 at 10:01 pm for illegal carrying of weapons and carrying a weapon in a firearm free zone.

 

Juvenile male, 16, was arrested on September 2, 2016 at 10:01 pm for illegal carrying of weapons, carrying a weapon in a firearm free zone, and obliterated serial number.

 

Narcotics detectives patrolling the Morgan City area during the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival observed a juvenile male subject near the sea wall with a handgun concealed in his waistband. Detectives made contact with two subjects, the juvenile and Johnson. Detectives located handguns on both subjects. The weapon the juvenile was carrying had an obliterated serial number. The investigation took place near Lawrence Park where the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival was underway. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings. Johnson was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the 4-day holiday weekend reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 147 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Brandy Martin, 42, 137 Houma Drive, Charenton, LA was arrested on September 1, 2016 at 9:56 pm for the following offenses:

  • License plate lights required
  • Head lamps required
  • Brake lights required
  • Expired license plate
  • Expired inspection sticker
  • No motor vehicle insurance
  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana)
  • Possession of Schedule II (Adderall)

A deputy patrolling the Charenton area observed a vehicle on Ralph Darden Memorial Parkway with only one working headlight and no working license plate light. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and also observed that a brake light on the vehicle was not working properly. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Martin, and smelled the strong odor of burning marijuana coming from the vehicle. The deputy asked if Martin had anything illegal in the vehicle and Martin handed over a marijuana cigarette. During the investigation, Martin also turned over 8 Adderall pills she was carrying in her purse. The deputy also found that Martin had an expired inspection sticker and that she was operating the vehicle without insurance. Martin was transported to the parish jail for booking and later transferred to another facility for housing.

 

Ryan Ledet, 23, 828 Lillian Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on September 2, 2061 at 10:54 am for hit and run driving and failure to report an accident. Shortly after midnight, a deputy was dispatched to a report of a hit and run crash in Amelia. The deputy found a damaged speed limit sign and several damaged mail boxes on Barrow Street. Later that morning, another deputy located the suspect vehicle and the driver, identified as Ledet, on Highway 182 in Amelia. Following the investigation, Ledet was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Theresa E. Desselle, 57, 39426 Honey Island Road, Pearl River, LA was arrested on September 2, 2016 at 3:27 pm for careless operation of a motor vehicle, no motor vehicle insurance, and no proof of registration. A deputy investigating a single vehicle crash on Highway 90 in Morgan City made contact with the d river, Desselle, and found that she was operating the vehicle without insurance or proof of registration. Desselle was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Brian Humphrey, 30, 1430 Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 3, 2016 at 2:26 am for possession of marijuana 2nd offense. A deputy investigating a vehicle crash on Taft Street in Patterson made contact with a driver, Humphrey, and observed a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle. The deputy also found that Humphrey had a prior conviction for possession of the illegal substance. During the course of the crash investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Humphrey backed into a parked Patterson Police unit. Humphrey was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Jorge Torres Contreras, 39, 711 Terrebonne Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 3, 2016 at 5:13 pm for possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles, speeding, and no driver’s license. A deputy assigned to patrol Amelia observed a vehicle traveling 67 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone on Duhon Boulevard. The deputy conducted a traffic stop, made contact with the driver, Contreras, and found that he was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The deputy also observed an open container of beer inside the vehicle. Contreras was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Jason J. Suire, 44, 6750 Highway 182 Ricohoc, LA was arrested on September 3, 2016 at 8:15 pm for the following offenses:

  • Driving under suspension
  • Tail lamps required
  • No insurance
  • Canceled license plate

A deputy observed a vehicle traveling on Highway 182 in Ricohoc with only one tail light and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Suire. While speaking with the deputy, Suire stated that he was on his way to get his tail light fixed. As the traffic stop investigation progressed, the deputy found that Suire was operating the vehicle without insurance and with a driver’s license that was listed as suspended. Suire was release on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

James C. Hebert, 30, 6832 Highway 182, Youngsville, LA was arrested on September 3, 2016 at 10:52 pm for careless operation of a vehicle, no proof of insurance, and driving under suspension. A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash off of Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy observed a vehicle in the ditch and made contact with the driver identified as Hebert. The deputy found that Hebert was driving the vehicle without insurance and with a driver’s license that was listed as suspended. Hebert was release on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Dejon Francis, 25, 301 Egle Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 4, 2016 at 1:37 am for disturbing the peace (fighting) and simple battery.

 

Anthony Pennison, 22, 166 Vivian Street, Bayou L’Ourse, LA was arrested on September 4, 2016 at 1:37 am for the following offenses:

  • Simple battery
  • Disturbing the peace (fighting)
  • Possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles
  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Deputies were dispatched to a report of a possible disturbance on Sun Road in Bayou Vista. During the course of the investigation, deputies learned that Francis and Pennison struck a female victim during a fight that occurred on Sun Road. Francis was arrested at the scene and transported to the parish jail for booking. Deputies located Pennison in Morgan City with the assistance of Morgan City Police. A Morgan City officer observed an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle Pennison was driving. Continuing the investigation, a deputy also located a grinder containing pieces of marijuana inside the vehicle. Both suspects were transported to the parish jail for booking. Pennison was released on a $4,750 bond. Francis was transferred to another facility for housing with bail set at $750.

 

Garrett L. Johnson, 27, 204 Cottonwood Lane, Mandeville, LA was arrested on September 4, 2016 at 2:03 am for disturbing the peace. A deputy was dispatched to a business on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia in reference to a report of a subject causing a disturbance. The deputy made contact with Johnson and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. The deputy learned that Johnson was attempting to fight other subjects at the location. Johnson was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

John Austin, III, 55, 215 S. Clausen Lane, Verdunville, LA was arrested on September 4, 2016 at 11:34 am for the following offenses:

  • Reckless operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving left of center
  • General speed law violation
  • No proof of insurance
  • No proof of vehicle registration

A deputy responding to a complaint of a reckless driver, observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 182. The deputy initiated a traffic stop. While following the vehicle, the deputy also observed the driver pass other vehicles at a high rate of speed, driving recklessly through standing water on the roadway near pedestrians. After stopping the vehicle, the deputy made contact with the driver, Austin, and detained him. The deputy discovered that Austin was operating the vehicle without proof of insurance or proof of vehicle registration. Austin was transported to the parish jail for booking. Austin was released on a $1,750 bond.

 

Tina Weaver, 46, 122 Doris Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on September 4, 2016 at 5:53 pm on a warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. A deputy investigating an unrelated complaint made contact with Weaver at her residence and located the active warrant for her arrest. The warrant was obtained following an April 2015 investigation into a complaint of unauthorized use of a vehicle. A deputy collected evidence that Weaver used the victim’s vehicle without permission. Weaver was transported to the parish jail for booking. She was released on a $750 bond.

 

Jacob Hebert, 22, 800 Crossland Drive, New Iberia, LA was booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on a warrant for second degree battery and criminal damage to property. Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at the Myette Point Boat Landing. Deputies received information of a possible battery of a female subject. Deputies learned that the female was traveling with Hebert to the New Iberia area. With the assistance of the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Hebert and the female were located in New Iberia. Hebert was detained by IPSO and the female victim was transported to an area medical facility for treatment. A detective assigned to investigate the case, found evidence that Hebert repeatedly struck the female victim while in the Myette Point area and threw her phone out of a window of a moving vehicle. The victim was treated for a broken nose and other injuries. The detective obtained a warrant for Hebert’s arrest. Hebert was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set. This investigation is ongoing.

 

Don Fryou, 28, 445 A Southeast Boulevard, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on September 5, 2016 at 4:39 am for resisting an officer and driving under suspension. A deputy assigned to patrol Bayou Vista observed a vehicle parked in the parking lot of the skate park. The vehicle was running and had its lights on. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Fryou. As the deputy attempted to speak with Fryou, he fled on foot. Continuing the investigation, the deputy developed information that Fryou was at a nearby business and located him there. The deputy also discovered that Fryou was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Fryou was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Colby Spain, 29, 525 Roberson Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 5, 2016 at 6:41 am for littering and driving under suspension. A deputy was dispatched to a report of a disturbance in progress at a residence on Grandwood Drive in the Patterson area. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that the parties involved had left the area. Continuing the investigation, the deputy located the suspect vehicle in Bayou Vista. As the deputy initiated a traffic stop, the driver was seen throwing an item out of the window onto the roadway. The vehicle was stopped and the deputy made contact with the driver identified as Spain. The deputy gathered information that Spain and another subject were involved in argument on Grandwood Drive. The deputy also found that Spain was operating the vehicle with a driver’s license that was listed as suspended. Spain was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

 

Stephen S. Hutcherson, 31, 211 Southland Circle, Apt. A, Houma, LA was arrested on September 5, 2016 at 11:51 am for 2 counts of resisting an officer and on a warrant from the 32nd Judicial District Court for failure to appear for drug court. A deputy was dispatched to a report of a suspicious person at a business on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with a male subject attempting to hitch hike on Highway 90. The subject refused to identify himself to the deputy. As the deputy detained him pending identification, the subject pulled away twice and reached for his waistband. After detaining the subject, the deputy identified him as Hutcherson and located the active warrant for his arrest. Hutcherson was transported to the parish jail. No bail is set.

 

Trinity Todd, 21, 133 Two Sisters Court, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on September 5, 2016 at 9:19 pm on a warrant from Morgan City Police for domestic abuse battery. A deputy made contact with Todd at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City and took her into custody on the warrant. Todd was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Alfred Daniels, Jr., 54, 509 Tiger Road, Centerville, LA was arrested on September 5, 2016 at 9:20 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy investigating an unrelated complaint made contact with Daniels at his residence and located the active warrant for his arrest. Daniels was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $6,821.24.

  

NOTE: The following arrest was made on August 17, 2016.

Travis S. Ruffin, 18, 3202 Vine Drive, Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 17, 2016 at 7:08 pm on a warrant for carnal knowledge of a juvenile. The warrant resulted from an investigation into a complaint received in July. The detective assigned to the case collected evidence that Ruffin had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old female in February at a location in Amelia. Ruffin turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Ruffin was released on a $10,000 personal surety bond.
