Arrest Report- August 30, 2016

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 33 complaints and reports the following arrest:

 

 

Jermoud Watts, 26, 721 Kentucky St, Morgan City LA, was arrested on August 29, 2016 1:44pm on the charge of battery of a correctional facility employee. Watts, currently incarcerated at the parish jail, threw coffee on a deputy conducting feeding duties. He remains incarcerated. No bail is set.

George Griffin Jr, 64, 1801 Rose St #1, Berwick LA, was arrested on August 29, 2016 at 11:03pm on charges of possession of a schedule II drug with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone, license plate light required and brake lights required. A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without a functioning license plate light and brake light. During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy made contact with the driver, Griffin. A search of the vehicle ensued and a bag containing methamphetamine was located. Griffin was found to be in possession of the methamphetamine while within 2,000 feet of a church. Griffin was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Joey Lofton, 57, 112 Loggers Lane, Trout LA, was arrested on August 29, 2016 at 11:03pm for possession of alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles. A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area conducted a traffic stop and made contact with a passenger, Lofton. Lofton was found to be in possession of an open container. Lofton was released on a summons to appear in court on November 21, 2016.
