According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 39 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Theresa Taylor, 42, 216 Field Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 1, 2016 at 3:53 pm for theft. On July 1, 2016, a detective began an investigation into a report of a theft of gate admission proceeds from a 3-day baseball tournament held at the Bayou Vista Community Center in June. The detective identified Taylor as a suspect in the crime. While speaking with her, Taylor admitted to taking $900 in cash. Taylor was transported to the parish jail for booking. She was released after posting $1,500 bond.
Vickie L. Norwood, 35, 323 Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 1, 2016 at 9:56 pm for disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Wheelis Lane in Bayou Vista. After speaking with several subjects at the scene, the deputy found evidence that Norwood went to the location and began arguing with a male subject. Norwood was released on a summons to appear in court on November 21, 2016.
Timothy Crawford, 48, 367 Pinell Lane, Baldwin, LA was arrested on August 1, 2016 at 11:34 pm for license plate light required and possession of marijuana. A deputy patrolling Highway 182 in Baldwin observed a vehicle with only one operational head light and no license plate lights. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Crawford. The deputy advised Crawford of the reason for the stop. While speaking with him, the deputy also received consent to search the vehicle and located a burnt marijuana cigar in the truck. Crawford was released on a summons to appear in court on November 21, 2016.
Jacoby Roberts, 26, 119 Collins Street, Baldwin, LA was arrested on August 2, 2016 at 3:05 am for the following offenses:
- Resisting an officer (by force)
- Resisting an officer (by flight)
- Possession of marijuana
- No registration
- No insurance
- Proper equipment required
A deputy patrolling Baldwin passed a vehicle on Bollard Street and observed the driver smoking marijuana. The deputy also observed that the vehicle had no visible license plate. The deputy initiated a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and continued to travel on Bollard Street before turning onto Collins Street. There, the driver, later identified as Roberts, drove behind a residence and exited the vehicle. The deputy ordered Roberts to stop. Roberts refused and attempted to walk away from the deputy. Roberts was detained pending further investigation. Roberts repeatedly attempted to pull away from the deputy. As the investigation progressed, the deputy found that Roberts did not have a valid license plate and was operating the vehicle without insurance or valid registration. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a small bag containing marijuana. Roberts was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $4,750.
