Detectives Investigating Graffiti Found on Bridge

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating graffiti found on the Sterling Bridge in the Franklin area. On Saturday, April 30, 2016 around 9:00 am, a deputy responded to a complaint of property damage on the bridge at LA 87 and found graffiti, including a racial slur. The vandalism is being actively investigated by detectives.  Anyone with information on the crime should contact the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-828-1960, 985-384-1622, or by email at crimewatch@stmaryso.com. After conducting the initial investigation into the complaint, deputies covered the writing with paint. Sheriff Mark Hebert says, “The language found painted on the bridge is despicable. These actions will not be tolerated here in St. Mary Parish.”
