Arrest Report - March 21, 2016

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72 hour weekend reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 122 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Anthony Jones, 35, 1007 Nolan Street, Donaldsonville, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 2:18 pm for unlawful use of state-issued identification to gain access to a gaming establishment and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks.

 

Courtney Jarvis, 34, 301 Belle Rose Lane, Belle Rose, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 2:18 pm for the following offenses:

- Unlawful use of state-issued identification to gain access to a gaming

establishment

- Flight from an officer

- Resisting a police officer (with force of violence)

- Resisting a police officer (by giving false information)

- Possession of Schedule I (methamphetamine)

 

A deputy responded to a complaint of two subjects attempting to use the same ID card to gain entry into the Amelia Belle Casino in Amelia. The deputy made contact with Jarvis, who originally gave the deputy a false name. The deputy found evidence that Jarvis was attempting to use Jones’ ID to enter the casino. Jones was already inside the gaming establishment. During the investigation, Jarvis fled on foot. With the assistance of casino security, the deputy located Jarvis hiding in a van in the parking lot. The deputy also located a small plastic baggy containing methamphetamine in the van where Jarvis was hiding. Jones was located inside the casino. Both suspects were transported to the parish jail for booking. Jones was released on a $1,500 bond. No bail is set for Jarvis.

 

Wayne Hawkins, Jr., 30, 1054 James Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 3:15 pm for off road vehicles on a public roadway prohibited.

 

Barry Davis, Jr., 23, 261 Easy Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 3:15 pm for off road vehicles on a public roadway prohibited.

 

Clarence William, III, 23, 603 Robert Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 3:15 pm for off road vehicles on a public roadway prohibited.

 

A deputy traveling on Irish Bend Road observed a subject riding an ATV (4 wheeler) on the roadway and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, the deputy observed two other subjects driving a 4 wheeler and a dirt bike and stopped them as well. The subjects were identified as Hawkins, Davis, and William. Following the traffic stop investigation, the three subjects were released on summonses to appear in court on May 27, 2016.

 

Christopher G. Fryar, 32, 308 Mill Road, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 5:15 pm for the following offenses:

- Theft

- Resisting an officer

- Reckless operation of a vehicle

- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks

On Thursday afternoon, March 17, 2016, a deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Shortly after speaking with store personnel, the deputy observed a male subject matching the suspect’s description exiting the store. When the deputy made contact with the subject he refused to comply with the deputy’s orders and fled from the area nearly striking a store employee. During the course of the investigation, the deputy identified the suspect as Fryar who also had a warrant for his arrest. Fryar is seen on video surveillance taking items from the shelves and then returning the items that he did not pay for and receiving a cash refund. On Friday, March 18, 2016, another deputy traveling on Sixth Street observed Fryar riding a bicycle and detained him. Following the investigation, Fryar was transported to the parish jail for booking. Fryar was released after posting a $4,000 bond.

 

Caesar Romero, 51, 160 Jupiter Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 7:45 pm for possession of alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving with no headlights on Highway 182 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Romero. While speaking with Romero, another deputy providing back up assistance observed an open bottle of beer inside the vehicle. Following the traffic stop investigation, Romero was released on a summons to appear in court on May 27, 2016.

 

Danesha Moore, 26, 508 Taft Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 7:44 pm for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles. A deputy responding to a reckless driving complaint located the suspect vehicle at a business in Patterson and made contact with the driver, Moore. The deputy observed that Moore was exhibiting several indicators of impairment. Moore performed poorly on the field sobriety test. Following the investigation, Moore was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Pedro O. Soto, 41, Two Sisters Court, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 19, 2016 at 2:54 am for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driver must be licensed, and driving left of center.  A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle swerving off the roadway and into the oncoming lane of travel and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Soto, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. The deputy administered a field sobriety test, on which Soto conducted poorly. Soto later registered a 0.170g% on a breath test. Soto was transported to the parish jail for booking. Soto was released after posting a $2,000 bond.

 

William J. Hale, III, 28, 205 Cedar Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 19, 2016 at 12:26 am for the following offenses:

- Operating a vehicle while intoxicated (child endangerment)

- Careless operation of a motor vehicle

- License plate expired

- Motor vehicle inspection expired

- No insurance

A deputy was dispatched to a vehicle in a ditch on Ralph Darden Memorial Parkway in Charenton. The deputy made contact with the driver, Hale, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Hale’s breath and person. The deputy also observed an infant inside the vehicle Hale was driving. Hale showed further signs of impairment during the field sobriety test. He refused to take a breath test. The deputy also found that Hale had an expired license plate, expired inspection, and was driving without insurance. Following the investigation, the deputy transported Hale to the parish jail for booking. Hale was released after posting a $2,700 bond.

 

Cornelius Gant, Jr., 58, 410 Cleveland Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 21, 2016 at 4:21 am for the following offenses:

- Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, 2nd offense

- No headlamps

- Failure to signal a lane change

- Improper lane usage

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle traveling on Highway 182 in the oncoming lane of travel with no headlights and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Gant, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. The deputy administered a field sobriety test. Gant conducted the test poorly showing multiple signs of impairment. Gant refused to take a breath test. Following the investigation, Gant was transported to the parish jail for booking. Gant was released after posting a $3,250 bond.

 

Sherry L. Cooper, 31, 7108 Park Road, Lot #8, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 19, 2016 at 7:57 am on a warrant for failure to comply with court orders. A deputy located Cooper at her residence on the warrant. Cooper was transported to the parish jail for booking. Cooper was released on a recognizance bond.

 

Kayla M. Davis, 27, 108 Moon Road, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 19, 2016 at 10:43 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of careless operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle not covered by security (no insurance). A deputy located Davis at her residence on the warrant and transported her to the parish jail for booking. Davis was released on a $750 bond.

 

Timothy Bertsch, 58, 700 Commerce Street, New Orleans, LA was arrested on March 19, 2016 at 10:01 pm for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, improper lane usage, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy responding to a report of a reckless driver on Highway 90 observed a vehicle swerving off the roadway and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, Bertsch, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. The deputy performed a field sobriety test and observed that Bertsch displayed multiple indicators of impairment. Bertsch refused to take a breath test. After the traffic stop investigation was complete, Bertsch was transported to the parish jail. Bertsch was released after posting a $3,250 bond.

 

Amy E. Grow, 34, 530 Orange Street, Unit #123, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 20, 2016 at 8:48 am on a warrant for possession of Schedule I, 3rd or subsequent offense, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of a CDS in the presence of persons under 17 years of age. With the assistance of Morgan City Police, a deputy located Grow at her residence on the warrant. Grow was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Chad Mendoza, 41, 700 Hamm Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 20, 2016 at 10:06 am for the following offenses:

- Careless operation of a motor vehicle

- No insurance

- License plate expired

- No registration in vehicle

 A deputy responded to a vehicle crash on Chatsworth Road in Franklin and made contact with the drivers involved. Mendoza admitted that he backed into another vehicle. The deputy found that Mendoza had no insurance, an expired license plate, and did not have proof of registration in the vehicle. Mendoza was released on a summons to appear in court on May 27, 2016.

 

Brennan T. C. Burney, 18, 906 Irish Bend Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 20, 2016 at 10:39 am for criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Franklin. During the course of the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Burney damaged a wall inside the residence by striking it during an argument with another subject. Burney was transported to the parish jail for booking. Burney was also booked on bond forfeiture. Bail is set at $13,000.

 

Michael Wilkerson, 25, 214 Mars Road, Apt. #1, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 20, 2016 at 12:09 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace (offensive words). With assistance from Berwick Police, a deputy located Wilkerson at a residence on California Street on the warrant. Wilkerson was transported to the parish jail for booking. Wilkerson was released on a $250 bond.

 

Austin M. Hebert, 18, 106 Palmer Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 20, 2016 at 6:02 pm for the following offenses:

- Careless operation of a motor vehicle

- Criminal damage to property

- Criminal trespass

- 2 counts, contributing to the endangerment of a minor

A deputy responded to a complaint of a vehicle driving recklessly on school board property in Centerville. The deputy located the suspect vehicle on Palmer Lane and made contact with the driver, identified as Hebert. During the course of the investigation, the deputy gathered evidence that Hebert purposefully caused the vehicle to lose traction and that Hebert lost control of the vehicle striking a light pole. Hebert had two teenage juveniles in the vehicle with him at the time of the incident. No major injuries were reported. Hebert was transported to the parish jail for booking. Hebert was released on a recognizance bond.

 

Jarred Gaudet, 26, 171 Aucoin Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 20, 2016 at 6:44 pm for possession of marijuana, 2nd offense, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy responded to a complaint of a suspicious person in the area of LaGrange Robicheaux Road in the Franklin area. During the investigation, the deputy located the suspicious suspect at a residence on Hebert Street and identified him as Gaudet. The deputy also located an active warrant for his arrest. During a search of Gaudet, the deputy located a small plastic baggie containing marijuana. Gaudet was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Desirae Eastling, 34, 3624 Lake Palourde Road, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 20, 2016 at 10:38 pm for driving under suspension and no tail lamps. A deputy patrolling Amelia observed a vehicle traveling on Lakeview Lane with no tail lights and conducted a traffic stop on Lake Palourde Road. The deputy made contact with the driver, Eastling, and found that she was operating a vehicle with a driver’s license that was listed as suspended. Eastling was released on a summons to appear in court on May 27, 2016.

 

John Demarco, 26, 116 Chris Lane, Centerville, LA was arrested on March 20, 2016 at 8:20 pm for the following offenses:

- Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute

- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute

- Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax) with intent to distribute

- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

- Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and following too closely

- City Court of Franklin warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia

A deputy observed Demarco, a suspect wanted on an active warrant, traveling as a passenger in a car in Bayou Vista. The deputy stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Field and Middle Roads and detained Demarco. While speaking with the driver, the deputy smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. The deputy received consent to search the car from the driver and located multiple small plastic baggies containing marijuana, crystallized methamphetamine, and Xanax pills where Demarco had been seated. The deputy also located a digital scale and a glass pipe that had been used to smoke marijuana. The investigation was conducted near a school. Demarco was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:

Cheryl Ledet, 44, 2820 Second Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on March 18, 2016 at 11:52 am on a warrant for distribution of Schedule III (suboxone) and introduction of contraband into a penal institution. Ledet turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. No bail is set. This arrest was made on a warrant as part of the Spring Cleaning operation (see 3.16.16 release).
