According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Marquis J. Brown, 23, 109 Edward Lane, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on March 8, 2016 at 10:23 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy responding to a complaint at the above listed address made contact with Brown and located the active warrants for his arrest. Brown was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was released after posting $865 bond.
Thomas Cook, 32, 5600 Cargill Road, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 8, 2016 at 12:56 pm for disturbing the peace (intoxicated). A deputy responded to a complaint of a suspicious person in the parking lot of a business on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with the suspect, identified as Cook, and observed several indicators of impairment. Cook was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was released on a summons to appear in court on May 27, 2016.
Kandace Francis, 24, 328 Cardinal Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 8, 2016 at 1:50 pm for remaining where forbidden. A deputy was dispatched to a disturbance at residence near the Greenwood overpass in Morgan City. The deputy made contact with Francis who admitted that she returned to the residence after being told earlier in the day by a another deputy not to. Francis was transported to the parish jail for booking. She was released on a summons to appear in court on May 27, 2016.
Herbert Smith, 29, 501 Labau Street, Lot #1, Baldwin, LA was arrested on March 8, 2016 at 2:02 pm for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and careless operation. A deputy responded to a single vehicle crash in the area of Chitimacha Trail and Flattown Road in Charenton. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a vehicle partially in the ditch and met with officers of the Chitimacha Tribal Police who had detained the driver. Chitimacha Police advised the deputy that the driver, identified as Smith, showed signs of impairment. During the crash investigation, Smith registered a 0.224g% blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. The deputy transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Corey Clavelle, 30, 1911 Frisco Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on March 8, 2016 at 11:56 pm for violation of protective orders. A deputy responded to a complaint of the violation of protective orders at a residence in the Four Corners area. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Clavelle went to the victim’s home and also attempted to make contact with the victim through repeated text messages and phone calls which is in violation of the court orders against him. The deputy transported Clavelle to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
