Arrest Report - March 8, 2016

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 32 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Brett Hopes, 36, 630 Monett Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on March 7, 2016 at 11:30 am on a warrant for illegal possession of stolen things. While booking Hopes’ at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for his arrest. The warrant is the result of an investigation following a December trespassing and subsequent pursuit at Cypremort Point that ended in Iberia Parish (see 12-28-2015 report). Detectives executing a search warrant on the vehicle that fled from a deputy recovered several items that had been reported stolen including deep sea fishing tackle. Hopes was a passenger in the vehicle. Detectives identified the items as being stolen from a victim’s truck at the Patout boat landing in Iberia Parish and obtained a warrant for Hopes arrest. This is the second arrest made in this case (see 1-4-2015 report for additional information). Hopes was transported to Iberia Parish.

Radiance Perez, 25, 213 Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 7, 2016 at 12:37 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs.

Kristi Simmons, 30, 1014 Joseph Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on March 7, 2016 at 1:08 pm on 2 warrants from Houma Police for failure to appear on the charge of violation of the child restraint law.

A deputy traveling on Highway 182 on the Greenwood overpass observed a vehicle being driven by a subject who had an active warrant. The deputy stopped the vehicle, made contact with the subject, Perez, and made the arrest. The deputy also made contact with a passenger in the vehicle, Simmons, and located an active warrant for her arrest from Houma Police. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Adam Charles, 40, 2114 Maple Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 7, 2016 at 4:35 pm for possession of Schedule II (cocaine), possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy patrolling Amelia observed a subject walking onto Friendship Alley. When the subject saw the deputy, he turned around back onto Lake Palourde Road. The deputy also observed that the subject’s hands were shaking. The deputy stopped and made contact with the subject, identified as Charles. While speaking with Charles, the deputy received consent to search his person and located a piece of crack cocaine in his pants pocket along with two pills of buspirone hydrochloride for which Charles did not have a prescription. The deputy also located a metal pipe used for smoking crack cocaine on his person. Charles was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
