Pedestrian Killed and Three Injured in Crash

On Friday, October 30, 2015, at 8:19 pm, deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a vehicle crash on Victoria Riverside Road near Little Hope Lane that claimed the life of a Patterson man and injured three others. The investigation revealed that 26 year old Cabot Pugh of Patterson was driving a 2002 GMC Sierra west on Victoria Riverside Road when, for reasons still under investigation, he drove off the roadway and struck several subjects in a sugarcane field. The group of people had stopped on the headland while out riding ATV's in the area. Kelly Dupre, Sr., 55 years old of Patterson, was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner. Two others, a man and woman, were seriously injured in the crash and transported to hospitals in Lafayette and Baton Rouge by Acadian Air Med Services. Another woman was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance with minor injuries. She was treated and released. Pugh was cited for careless operation of a vehicle. Pugh registered a 0.00g% blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. A toxicology sample was obtained and has been submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
