According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
McKinley Jordan, 64, 519 Big Four Corners Road, Four Corners, LA was arrested on October 28, 2015 at 4:58 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives patrolling Four Corners observed a male subject riding a bicycle pull out in front of detectives. The subject proceeded to swerve from side to side in the middle of the roadway. Detectives stopped their police unit and made contact with the subject, identified as Jordan. As detectives spoke with Jordan, he began pulling items from his pockets, including a small metal pipe believed to be used to smoke crack cocaine. Jordan was released on a summons to appear in court on January 13, 2016.
Jarvis Richard, 32, 207 Newman Street Baldwin, LA was arrested on October 28, 2015 at 5:57 pm for possession of Schedule II (Lortab) and resisting an officer. Narcotics detectives patrolling Baldwin observed several subjects standing in the roadway near the intersection of Bollard and Collins Streets. When one of the subjects, later identified as Richard, saw the detectives he fled on foot. Detectives engaged in a foot pursuit. While doing so, detectives saw a hat fall from Richard's head. Detectives detained Richard, retrieved the hat, and located Lortab pill inside the brim. Richard was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
Kenneth Benoit, 34, 122 Teddy Street, Pierre Part, LA was arrested on October 28, 2015 at 8:06 pm on an Assumption Parish warrant for failure to appear on the charge of non-support(failure to pay child support). Narcotics detectives conducting a traffic stop on Highway 182 in Morgan City made contact with a passenger, Benoit, and located an active warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
Dearius Kenner, 28, 312 Wren Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 12:47 am for the following offenses:
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Resisting an officer
- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
- Transactions involving drug proceeds
- Morgan City Police warrant for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity, and possession of drug paraphernalia 3rd offense
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division assisted Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Detectives in locating Kenner who was wanted on a warrant for multiple firearm and drug charges. MCPD narcotics detectives developed information that Kenner was at a residence on Ninth Street in Franklin. Detectives went to the residence and saw a vehicle leave the location. Detectives observed the driver commit several traffic violations and initiated a traffic stop. The driver failed to pull over for several blocks. While travelling down 7th Street, detectives observed a passenger with a back pack jump out of the moving vehicle. Detectives recognized the subject as Kenner. As Kenner attempted to flee on foot, he tripped over the backpack while dropping it to the ground. With the assistance of Franklin Police, Kenner was apprehended. Detectives retrieved the back pack and located a large plastic bag containing inside approximately one pound of marijuana. This incident occurred within the housing authority which is a drug free zone. Detectives also found $621 dollars in cash on Kenner. Detectives believe the money was derived from the sale of illegal drugs. Following the investigation, Kenner was transported to the parish jail. No bail is set.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 45 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Jeremy Williams, 34, 802 Ninth Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 28, 2015 at 9:50 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine, operating a vehicle not covered by security, and failure to give required signal. While booking Williams at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on a probation violation, a deputy located the active warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
