According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 41 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Danny Nguyen, 50, 6019 Highway 182 East, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 9, 2015 at 10:47 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of expired boat registration certificate and no boat numbers. Nguyen turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. He was released on a $500 bond.
Ronald Wesley, Jr., 33, 19817 Highway 182, Sorrel, LA was arrested on September 9, 2015 at 11:05 am on a warrant for second degree battery (with medical attention) and criminal damage to property. On Tuesday, September 1, 2015, a deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Sorrel. The deputy learned that Wesley struck a female victim in the head and face. The victim received medical treatment for a laceration near her eye and other injuries. The deputy also learned that Wesley took the victim’s cell phone from her and threw it to ground breaking it during the battery. Wesley turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin after learning of the warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
Naomi (Lavergne) Brazel, 40, 914 Second Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 9, 2015 at 4:13 pm on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy investigating a complaint of a possible simple battery made contact with Brazel at her residence and located the active warrant for her arrest. Brazel was released on a summons to appear in court on December 7, 2015. As the deputy continued the investigation into the original complaint, additional active warrants from outside neighboring agencies were located. Two of the warrants were listed under Brazel’s previous surname, Lavergne. The deputy returned to the residence, located Brazel, and placed her under arrest at 5:57 pm on the following warrants:
- 2006 warrant from Ascension Parish for contempt of court on the charges of expired motor vehicle inspection and no driver’s license
- 2006 warrant from Ascension Parish for contempt of court on the charge of issuing worthless checks
- 2013 warrant from Lafourche Parish for issuing worthless checks
No bail is set.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Leonard Yarborough, 53, 2616 4th Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on September 9, 2015 at 5:22 pm for possession of crack cocaine and obstruction of justice. Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Divisions were patrolling the area of Maine Street in Morgan City when they observed a male subject walking in the roadway. When the subject saw narcotics detectives, he threw crack cocaine that was in his possession onto the ground. Detectives detained the subject, identified as Yarborough, and recovered the illegal drug. Following the investigation, detectives transported Yarborough to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
