According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Demetris A. Jackson, 24, 930 Cecile Boulevard, Breaux Bridge, LA was arrested on September 2, 2015 at 7:28 pm for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and resisting an officer.
Braylon Dugas, 21, 612 Pearl Street, Breaux Bridge, LA was arrested on September 2, 2015 at 7:28 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Working with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Narcotics Division of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received information that Jackson was traveling to the St. Mary Parish area to deliver crystal methamphetamine. Detectives conducted a surveillance operation near the parish line and spotted Jackson traveling in a vehicle on Highway 90. Detectives observed the vehicle pull off of the highway into a gas station in the Four Corners area. When detectives made contact with Jackson, he fled on foot. Detectives gave chase. After a short foot pursuit, Jackson was apprehended and brought back to the location of the vehicle. Detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located several hidden bags of crystal methamphetamine. The total approximate street value of the drug is estimated at $13,000. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Dugas, was also found to be in possession of a bag of marijuana and cigar wraps. Jackson and Dugas were both transported to the parish jail for booking. Dugas was released after posting $3,500 bond. Jackson remains incarcerated with bail set at $76,000. The Franklin, Berwick, and Morgan City Police Departments assisted the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in this investigation.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Gerald Crooks, 54, 374 Degravelle Road, Amelia, LA was arrested on September 2, 2015 at 2:29 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia, 2nd offense. A deputy investigating a complaint of illegal drug activity stopped Crooks who was driving on Duhon Boulevard in Amelia. After speaking with the Crooks, the deputy requested the assistance of the Morgan City Police Department K-9 Unit. The K-9 officer indicated an odor response on the vehicle and the deputy located a socket containing burnt residue and a ball of copper wool. The make shift pipe and metal wool are both items that are commonly used in the consumption of crack cocaine. Crooks has a prior conviction for possession of drug paraphernalia. The deputy transported Crooks to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Juvenile male, 16, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on September 2, 2015 at 3:23 pm for remaining where forbidden. A deputy responded to a complaint of a juvenile subject entering the Bayou Vista skate park after being banned from the facility. The deputy observed the juvenile on video surveillance entering the park which is currently closed for construction. The deputy also learned that the juvenile was repeatedly told that he was banned from entering the park because of prior violations. The deputy located the juvenile on Saturn Road. Following the investigation, the juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Craig P. Blanc, 37, 3900 Captain Cade Road, Youngsville, LA was arrested on September 2, 2015 at 11:53 pm for the following violations:
- Disturbing the peace (intoxicated)
- Resisting an officer
- Possession of Schedule II (Adderall)
- Entering contraband into a penal institution
Desirae Yarborough, 34, 1516 Cross Road #2, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on September 2, 2015 at 11:53 pm for disturbing the peace (intoxicated) and resisting an officer.
A deputy conducting a business building security check on the corner of Southeast Boulevard and Highway 182 in Bayou Vista observed a male and female subject engaged in an argument yelling at each other near the shoulder of the highway. After the deputy made contact with them, the male subject began to walk away from the area. The deputy detained the subject, identified as Blanc, pending further investigation. The female subject, identified as Yarborough, then attempted to grab items from Blanc’s pocket. She was also detained. During the investigation, the two subjects continued yelling and screaming causing a disturbance. The deputy observed that both Blanc and Yarborough had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on their persons. During their arrest, Blanc and Yarborough attempted to forcibly pull away from the deputy. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail. During booking, a jailer located Adderall pills in Blanc’s pocket. Bail is set for Yarborough at $1,250. No bail is set for Blanc.
