Narcotics detectives patrolling the Morgan City area stopped a vehicle for committing a traffic violation on Highway 90. Detectives discovered that the driver, Broussard, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Also during the traffic stop, detectives located a bag of methamphetamine, Klonopin, Taradal, and Trilafon pills as well as several items of drug paraphernalia including spoons, syringes, and a tourniquet inside the vehicle. Through the course of the investigation, detectives developed information that illegal drug activity was taking place at 401 Venus Street in Bayou Vista and made contact with two residents identified as Grubb and Dehart. Detectives carried out a search warrant at the location and discovered several bags of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $14,000, a bag of LSD, a handgun, and several items of drug paraphernalia: spoons, plastic bags, syringes, and digital scales. Narcotics detectives also located $1,121 in cash, which was seized pending forfeiture. Detectives believe the money is proceeds from illegal drug transactions. A 4 year old boy was also located at the residence. The child was released into the care of a family member. Broussard, Grubb, and Dehart were transported to the St. Mary Parish law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
