Arrest Report - August 14, 2015

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests made by Narcotics Division Detectives:

 

Chase Bertrand, 29, 507 Third Street, Apt. A Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 13, 2015 at 5:21 pm for the following offenses:

- Warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court

- Possession of Schedule II (oxycodone) with intent to distribute

- Possession of Schedule II (fentanyl) with intent to distribute

- Possession of Schedule III (Winstrol)

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

- Violation of controlled dangerous substance law (church drug free zone)

 

Leah Bourgeois, 38, 507 Third Street, Apt. A Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 13, 2015 at 5:21 pm for the following offenses:

- Distribution of Schedule II (oxycodone)

- Possession of Schedule II (oxycodone) with intent to distribute

- Possession of Schedule II (fentaynl) with intent to distribute

- Violation of controlled dangerous substance law (church drug free zone)

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

- Possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription (Lioresal)

 

Gia Gautier, 52, 712 Federal Avenue, Lot A Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 13, 2015 at 5:21 pm for possession of Schedule II (fentanyl) and violation of controlled dangerous substance law (church drug free zone).

 

Christen Brown, 34, 1039 Hwy 70 Pierre Part, LA was arrested on August 13, 2015 at 3:04 pm for failure to signal a lane change, possession of Schedule II (oxycodone), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Detectives with the St. Mary Parish sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, with assistance of narcotics officers from the Morgan City Police Department, went to the residence of Bertrand and Bourgeois to serve an outstanding warrant and investigate information that prescription medication was being sold from the location. They observed a vehicle leave the residence and travel onto Highway 90. The driver failed to signal a lane change and detectives conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, identified as Brown, detectives learned that she had several oxycodone pills in her purse. Detectives also located drug paraphernalia including a tourniquet, spoon, and syringes. Detectives determined that the pills were purchased at the Third Street address. Brown was transported to the parish jail. No bail is set.

Continuing the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence. Upon executing the warrant, Bourgeois, Bertrand, and Gautier were located inside. A search of Gautier’s purse revealed a fentanyl patch. Gautier was unable to produce a prescription for the drug. Also, inside the residence, detectives located steroid pills (Winstrol), Lioresal pills, oxycodone pills, fentanyl patches, syringes, and spoons. Detectives gathered additional evidence that Bourgeois and Bertrand were selling prescription medication from the location. The residence sits a few hundred feet from a Catholic church. The three subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Malissa Gill, 26, 205 Brashear Avenue, Rm. # 224 Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 14, 2015 at 3:31 am for the following violations:

- Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of domestic abuse battery

- Warrant for possession of methamphetamine- Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax)

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

Narcotics detectives went to the location listed above in an effort to locate Gill who had active warrants for her arrest. Detectives knocked on the door to the room and were invited inside by Gill. As detectives were speaking with Gill, they observed her reach down and attempt to grab a Xanax pill that was on the floor. Detectives recovered the pill. They received consent to search the room and located a glass pipe hidden inside a sock on the bed where Gill had been sitting. Gill admitted to using the pipe to smoke meth earlier in the day. The warrant for possession of methamphetamine is the result of a traffic stop conducted by Berwick Police. A narcotics detective assisting with the stop learned that Gill was in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. Gill was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
