Arrest Report - March 23, 2015

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 112 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Mindy Macalusa, 31, 535 Arcemont Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 20, 2015 at 12:02 pm for unauthorized use of an access card. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by a deputy into a complaint of a subject using a credit card without the victim’s permission. The deputy determined that Macalusa made unauthorized purchases in excess of $6,000. Macalusa was transported to the parish jail for booking and was later released on a $400 bond.

 

Takeila L. Rouchon, 32, 2105 Chatsworth Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on march 21, 2015 at 8:25 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. A deputy made contact with Rouchon during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 90 in the Sorrell area and discovered the active warrant for her arrest. The deputy transported Rouchon to the parish jail for booking. Rouchon was released on a $5,000 bond.

 

Jarnell Payne, 37, 1510 Third Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 21, 2015 at 11:07 am for the following offenses:

- Simple kidnapping

- Domestic abuse battery

- Unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling

- Disturbing the peace

Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in progress at a residence in Franklin. Upon arrival, deputies observed that the front door of the residence was open and conducted a search of the home which was found to be unoccupied. Deputies spoke with witnesses at the scene and learned that Payne and a female victim were travelling in a white Dodge Durango. Deputies began a search for the vehicle and located it on Prairie Road North in Franklin. Deputies stopped the vehicle and detained Payne. During the course of the investigation, deputies learned that Payne punched the female victim multiple times bruising her face, neck, and arms. When Payne learned that the Sheriff’s Office had been notified, he ordered the victim into the vehicle. Fearing for her life, the victim got into the car. Following the investigation, deputies transported Payne to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

Matthew Burke, 26, 997 Verdunville Road, Verdunville, LA was arrested on March 21, 2015 at 7:58 pm for driving an off road vehicle on a public roadway. A deputy assigned to patrol the Centerville area observed a side-by-side ATV drive by on Highway 182. The ATV had no headlights or other equipment required to operate on public roadways. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Burke, the driver of the ATV. Following the traffic stop investigation, the deputy released Burke on a summons to appear in court on June 17, 2015.

 

Marc Ramsey, 34, 607 Clarke Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 21, 2015 at 8:10 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy located Ramsey at his residence on the warrant. Bail is set at $10,171.40.

 

Melvin Thibodeaux, 53, 1423 James Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 22, 2015 at 12:53 am for the following offenses:

- Battery of a police officer

- Resisting an officer

- Possession of Schedule II

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

Shawn Gaskins, 31, 154 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on March 22, 2015 at 12:57 am for the following offenses:

- Resisting an officer

- Possession of Schedule II

- Misrepresentation during booking

Deputies assigned to patrol the Amelia area observed a group of male subjects gathered near a residence on Friendship Alley. When a deputy attempted to make contact and speak with them, the subjects fled on foot. Deputies gave chase. During the foot pursuit, one of the subjects, later identified as Thibodeaux, threw a pack of cigarettes striking a deputy. Another subject, later identified as Gaskins, was seen throwing an item to the ground. Both subjects were apprehended and detained pending further investigation. The item thrown by Gaskins was recovered and found to contain 5 pieces of crack cocaine. Thibodeaux was found to be in possession of a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine. Another piece of crack cocaine was also found at the site where Thibodeaux was sitting prior to the subjects fleeing from deputies. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. During booking, jailers discovered that Gaskins had given deputies a false name (an alias). No bail is set for either subject.

 

Jennifer Mora, 38, 293 Texas Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on March 22, 2015 at 2:15 am for flight from an officer and reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy observed a vehicle swerve into an oncoming lane of traffic on Highway 182 in the Morgan City area forcing another vehicle to swerve to avoid a possible collision. The deputy initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle then accelerated away from the deputy. The deputy followed the vehicle to the Highway 90 on ramp where the vehicle stopped. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Mora. Following an investigation, the deputy transported Mora to the parish jail for booking. Mora was later released on a $1,000 bond.

 

Kyle J. Darden, 18, 380 Flattown Road, Baldwin, LA was arrested on March 22, 2015 at 7:51 am for driving while intoxicated and careless operation of a motor vehicle (with a crash). Deputies responded to a report of a crash with injuries near the intersection of Flattown Road and Jenkins Road in Baldwin. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Darden, the driver of one of the vehicles, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. The deputy conducted a field sobriety test on which Darden performed poorly. Darden later registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.023g% on the breathe test. The deputy investigating the crash determined that Darden was travelling at a high rate of speed when he struck another vehicle causing both vehicles to travel off of the roadway and turn over into a ditch. Two of the occupants of the second vehicle were transported to Franklin Foundation hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Darden was transported to the parish jail and was later released on a recognizance bond.

 

David McDonald, 51, 3153 Highway 87, Centerville, LA was arrested on March 22, 2015 at 3:43 pm for the following offenses:

- Driving while intoxicated

- Flight from an officer

- Resisting an officer

- Careless operation of a motor vehicle

- Driving left of center

A deputy responding to a complaint of a reckless driver observed a vehicle matching the complainant’s description swerving from lane to lane on LA Highway 182 in the Verdunville area. The deputy initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to pull over. The deputy followed the driver to a residence on Highway 182. The deputy identified the driver as McDonald and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. During the course of the investigation, McDonald registered a 0.292g% blood alcohol concentration on the breath test. During the arrest, McDonald pushed a deputy. The deputy transported McDonald to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Roland August (Boutte), 18, 420 Sorrel Road, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on March 22, 2015 at 6:51 pm on a warrant for theft (by fraud) (felony) and on a warrant for theft of livestock (felony). A deputy located August on Sorrel Road on the warrants. The warrants stem from an investigation into a report of the theft of a horse from the Four Corners area in late February. The detective assigned to the case learned that August took the victim’s horse and traded that animal, along with another horse that belonged to August, to a second victim in exchange for a motorcycle. A deputy transported August to the parish jail for booking. August was later released on a $500 bond.
