Detective Honored at Black History Celebration
Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Loreauville honored Whytley Jones, a detective with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, during the organization’s annual Black History Month celebration. Joining her amongst the honorees were educators, a journalist, a marketing director and a dentist. Jones is the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office first female African-American detective. Jones and other honorees spoke to the church’s youth about setting goals and reaching one’s full potential.
Jones graduated from Northwestern State University in 2010, with a major in Biology and minor in Psychology. She started her career in law enforcement at the Sheriff’s Office in 2011. Jones dispatched and patrolled the streets of the parish before being selected to the criminal investigations division in 2014.
Detective Jones has been instrumental in solving several complex investigations. She constantly sets the highest standard of personal integrity as she leads by example. The Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize Detective Jones and her accomplishments.
