Arrest Report - February 2, 2015

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72 hour weekend reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 124 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Tiffany A. Sonnier, 26, 2806 Dalbor Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on January 30, 2015 at 4:54 pm for conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution, possession of Schedule II (Adderall), and introduction of contraband into a penal institution. A deputy at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center developed information that a nurse, contracted to work through a private health care company at the jail, was conspiring to bring contraband into the facility. During the investigation conducted by detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, Sonnier admitted to conspiring to bring contraband into the facility. During the booking process, Sonnier was also found to be in possession of Adderall pills. No bail is set. The investigation is ongoing.

Cameron Duncan, 18, 317 Chavin Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 30, 2015 at 9:16 pm for criminal trespass. A deputy assigned to patrol the area of Lake Road in Verdunville observed a vehicle driving on the levee and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Duncan, and determined that he was trespassing. The deputy released Duncan on a summons to appear in court on April 7, 2015.

 

Lamonique Washington, 24, 1230 Weber Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 30, 2015 at 10:21 for maximum speed limit violation and driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Highway 182 in the Franklin area observed a vehicle driving 65 mph in a posted 55 mph zone and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, Washington, and discovered that she was driving with a suspended license. The deputy released Washington on a summons to appear in court on April 7, 2015.

 

Kevin James, 29, 813 ½ Iberia Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 31, 2015 at 4:11 am for the following offenses:

- Simple battery

- Aggravated flight from an officer

- Reckless operation of a vehicle

- No drivers license

A deputy received a report from Chitimacha Police regarding a medical emergency and possible battery at a location on Highway 87 in the Baldwin area. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that James struck a female victim in the face multiple times while the two were driving on Highway 87. Fearing for her life, the victim jumped from the vehicle and made contact with a Chitimacha Police officer patrolling the area. Sheriff’s deputies issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) bulletin for James’ vehicle which was located on Lee Charles Street. The responding deputy initiated a traffic stop. James failed to pull over continuing at a high rate of speed to the intersection of Iberia Street and Chatsworth Road where he crashed the vehicle. The deputy apprehended James. Following the crash, James was transported to Franklin Foundation Hospital where he was treated and released. The deputy then transported James to the parish jail for booking. James was released on a $6,250 bond. The crash investigation was turned over to Louisiana State Police.

 

Vincent Gaines, 72, 227 Highway 1014, Napoleonville, LA was arrested on January 31, 2015 at 9:42 am on a warrant from Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on the charges of driving while intoxicated and careless operation of a vehicle. A deputy working LACE (Local Agency Compensated Enforcement) detail observed a vehicle travelling 55 mph in a 45 mph zone on Highway 182 in the Morgan City area. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Gaines. During the traffic stop investigation, the deputy discovered that Gaines held an active warrant for his arrest. The deputy also cited Gaines for speeding and no vehicle insurance. Gaines was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later released on a $300 bond.

 

Charles Robinson, 56, 5620 North Bayou Black Road, Gibson, LA was arrested on January 31, 2015 at 7:12 pm on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Wren Street in Morgan City made contact with Robinson and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. The deputy released Robinson on a summons to appear in court on April 7, 2015.

 

Kendall M. Baker, 49, 310 Willowood Drive, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 31, 2015 at 7:42 pm for driving while intoxicated and improper lane usage. A deputy patrolling the Highway 182 area in Centerville observed a vehicle swerving off of the roadway and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Baker. The deputy observed that Baker was swaying from side to side. Baker conducted the field sobriety test poorly and later registered a 0.259g% blood alcohol concentration on the breath test. The deputy transported Baker to the parish jail for booking. He was later released on a $1,750 bond.

 

Perry Ourso, 55, 529 Teche Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on February 1, 2015 at 1:11 am for attempted theft and criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that a male subject as seen attempting to steal a TV. The subject produced a tool from his pocket and cut a security wire attached to the television. The subject then fled from the store and drove away from the area. Using a description of the subject’s vehicle, the deputy located Ourso at his residence on Teche Road. Ourso was positively identified as the subject who attempted to steal the TV. The deputy released Ourso on a summons to appear in court on May 12, 2015.

 

Russell Gant, 36, 101 3 B’s Lane Apt. #10, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on February 1, 2015 at 2:45 am for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a residence in Bayou Vista in reference to a report of domestic abuse. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Gant struck a female victim in the face during an argument that occurred inside of a vehicle in the Bayou Vista area. The deputy transported Gant to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $5,000.

 

Carlton Melancon, 37, 246 Lockett Road #1, Four Corners, LA was arrested on February 1, 2015 at 4:16 am on the following charges:

- 2 warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family

- Warrant from Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for traffic violations

- Possession of marijuana, 3rd offense

- Possession of drug paraphernalia

A deputy assigned to patrol the Four Corners area conducted a traffic stop on Highway 318 and made contact with a passenger, identified as Melancon. The deputy discovered that Melancon held multiple active warrants for his arrest. During his arrest, the deputy located a small bag of marijuana and cigar wraps on Melancon’s person. The deputy transported Melancon to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Leivi J. Alcantara, 29, 2701 Manson Avenue, Metairie, LA was arrested on February 1, 2015 at 10:55 am on a warrant from the State of Florida Department of Corrections for probation violation for the original charge of tampering with evidence. A deputy responded to a request to assist U.S. Customs and Border Protection in apprehending a subject wanted on a warrant out of Florida. Alcantara was located at a business on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia and taken into custody without incident. The deputy transported Alcantara to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

 

Latisha Drexler, 34, 122 Bagon Lane, Verdunville, LA was arrested on February 1, 2015 at 1:34 pm for disturbing the peace (fighting).

 

Martha Bordelon, 55, 376 Verdun Lane, Verdunville, LA was arrested on February 1, 2015 at 1:38 pm for disturbing the peace (fighting).

 

A deputy investigating a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Verdun Lane learned that Drexler and Bordelon were involved in a physical altercation during an argument between the two. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. Both were later released on a $500 bond.

 

Ciara Leonard, 27, 1245 Highway 402, Napoleonville, LA was arrested on February 1, 2015 at 6:12 pm on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Leonard turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail is set at $100,000.

 

Andre Jeter, 27, 505 Wise Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on February 1, 2015 at 11:09 pm for disturbing the peace (intoxicated). A deputy responded to a location on Highway 182 in Bayou Vista in reference to a report of an intoxicated subject in a ditch. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a male subject kneeling near the roadway. The deputy made contact with the subject and identified him as Jeter. The deputy learned that Jeter had been drinking alcohol and was attempting to walk home. The deputy released Jeter on a summons to appear in court on May 12, 2015.

 

Jeremy Butler, 28, 248 Edmund Lane, Charenton, LA was arrested on February 2, 2015 at 3:10 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of threatening a public officer, remaining where forbidden, resisting an officer, and disturbing the peace. A deputy working a complaint on Edmond Lane made contact with Butler and discovered the active warrant for his arrest. The deputy transported Butler to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
