Arrest Report - January 21, 2015

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 55 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Clifton Martin, Jr., 52, 724 Prairie Road North, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 20, 2015 at 10:40 am on a warrant for theft of goods. A deputy assigned to the Warrants Division located Martin at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. The warrant stems from an investigation into a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The responding deputy learned from store personnel that Martin was seen placing items in a shopping cart and exiting the store without paying for the goods. Martin was transported to the parish jail for booking. Martin was released on a $500 bond.

 

Leslie J. Matthews, 39, 178 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on January 20, 2015 at 2:27 pm on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Matthews at her residence on the warrant. The deputy released Matthews on a summons to appear on court on April 7, 2015.

 

Jessica Knight, 32, 717796 Highway 182, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 20, 2015 at 2:34 pm on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy assigned to the Warrants Division located Knight at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. The deputy released Knight on a summons to appear in court on February 10, 2015.

 

Wilbur J. Richard, Jr., 30, 11132 Highway 695, Kaplan, LA was arrested on January 20, 2015 at 3:44 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area made contact with Richard while he was walking on Jupiter Street. While speaking with Richard, the deputy received information that he was wanted on an active warrant. During the arrest, the deputy located a small cigar inside a package on Richard’s person. The package also contained a trace amount of vegetative material suspected to be marijuana. The deputy transported Richard to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $2,000.

 

Patricia Savoie, 43, 303 BDC Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 20, 2015 at 11:38 pm for simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on BDC Lane. After gathering statements from witnesses, the deputy determined that Savoie punched the female victim in the face during an argument. The deputy located Savoie hiding beneath the steps at the rear of the residence. Following the investigation, the deputy transported Savoie to the parish jail for booking. Savoie was later released on a summons to appear in court on April 7, 2015.

 

Marlon Stevenson, 21, 206 Rob Lane, Baldwin, LA was arrested on January 21, 2015 at 4:49 am for reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle speeding 72 mph in the posted 45 mph zone on Highway 182. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Stevenson. Following the traffic stop investigation, the deputy released Stevenson on a summons to appear in court on April 7, 2015.
