Arrest Report - April 26, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 33 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Nicholas Jefferson, 28, 4716 Rosemont Street, New Orleans, LA was arrested on April 25, 2018 at 2:11 pm for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. A deputy conducted an investigation into a suspicious vehicle in the Bayou Vista area. The deputy identified the driver as Jefferson. While speaking to him, the deputy found that he was a door-to-door salesman and that he did have the proper permit to be in the area. However, the deputy also found that Jefferson was operating the van with a suspended license. Following the investigation, Jefferson was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11, 2018.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Jonathan Evans, Jr., 24, 304 Tiffany Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on April 25, 2018 at 4:24 pm on the following charges:

  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute
  • Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses
  • Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor

Narcotics Section detectives conducted a search warrant at Evans’ residence and located marijuana, a digital scale, $199 in cash money, plastic bags, and a grinder. The residence is located within 2,000 feet of a church. During the investigation, detectives collected additional evidence that Evans was selling marijuana. A small child was also in the residence at the time of the investigation. Evans was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

Robert Burke, 55, 404 Church Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on 7:04 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, and resisting an officer by force.

 

Chantal Burke, 24, 404 Church Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on April 25, 2018 at 7:04 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Zachary Mahfouz, 24, 2811 Second Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on April 25, 2018 at 7:04 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Narcotics Section detectives conducted a search warrant at R. Burke’s and C. Burke’s residence. Detectives located a digital scale and a container filled with needles. As detectives spoke with R. Burke he attempted to discard a methamphetamine pipe on the ground. R. Burke then attempted to push away from detectives as they worked to detain him. During the investigation, detectives collected evidence that R. Burke, C. Burke, and Mahfouz used the needles to inject methamphetamine. R. Burke was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set. C. Burke and Mahfouz were released on summonses to appear in court on July 11, 2018.
