Juvenile Arrested in Connection to Bayou Vista Vehicle Burglaries

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 30 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Mark Boudreaux, 59, 202 Cypress Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 23, 2018 at 5:56 pm for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A deputy assisted a Baldwin police officer with a 2-vehicle crash on LA Highway 182 near Martin Luther King Road. Both the Baldwin officer and sheriff’s deputy observed that Boudreaux, one of the drivers, was showing signs of drug impairment. The deputy administered a standardized field sobriety test. Boudreaux conducted the test poorly. Following the investigation, the deputy transported Boudreaux to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $2,500.

 

Amber Montgomery, 27, 2832 Fourth Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on April 24, 2018 at 10:20 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of amphetamine and possession of Subutex. After learning of the warrant for her arrest, Montgomery turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. A deputy transported Montgomery to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $5,000.

 

Juvenile male, 15, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on April 24, 2018 at 12:37 pm for simple burglary of a vehicle, (attempted) simple burglary of a vehicle, and 2 counts of criminal trespass. A deputy investigating the vehicle burglaries that occurred in Bayou Vista identified the juvenile as a suspect in the crimes. The deputy found evidence that the juvenile entered into 2 vehicles in the 500 block of David Road and stole items including a sunglasses case and cans of tobacco. The deputy located the items at the juvenile’s residence. Following the investigation, the deputy released the juvenile to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

 

Joseph Touchet, Jr., 27, 110 Enterprise Boulevard, Patterson, LA was arrested on April 24, 2018 at 1:14 pm for resisting an officer, theft, and disturbing the peace (intoxication). A deputy responded to a call for service regarding shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy located the suspect inside the store. The suspect, later identified as Touchet, attempted to run out of the store. The deputy apprehended Touchet. While being detained, Touchet attempted to pull away from the deputy multiple times. During the subsequent investigation, the deputy located several stolen items in Touchet’s possession. The deputy also observed that Touchet showed signs of alcohol impairment. The deputy transported Touchet to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $5,000.

 

  

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Devonte Charles, 25, 621 Labau Road, Baldwin, LA was arrested on April 24, 2018 at 10:18 am on a warrant for possession of Schedule I (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of Schedule III (Lortab). In March, Narcotics Section detectives patrolling the Four Corners area observed a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway on Charles Lane. Detectives smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and detained the driver and the passenger who was identified as Charles. During the subsequent investigation, detectives located bags of marijuana, a piece of a Lortab pill, and a digital scale inside the vehicle. Detectives found evidence that the drugs and paraphernalia belonged to Charles and later obtained a warrant for his arrest. A deputy came into contact with Charles on Yokley Road in Franklin and took him into custody on the warrant. The deputy transported Charles to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Charles was released on a $4,000 bond.

 

Jason Spurlock, 40, 405 Clark Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 24, 2018 at 4:16 pm for the following offenses:

  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Transactions involving proceeds from illegal drug activity
  • Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)

Detectives of the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section conducted a search warrant at Spurlock’s residence and located marijuana, a digital scale, drug related packaging materials, and $1,115 in cash money. Detectives collected evidence that the money was obtained through the sale of illegal drugs. The residence is located within 2,000 feet of an elementary school and high school. Spurlock was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
