Arrest Report - November 13, 2017

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 96-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 144 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

UNIFORMED PATROL SECTION

Juvenile female, 14, was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 8:33 am on two counts of simple battery. A school resource officer responded to the St. Mary Parish Alternative School for a disturbance. The school resource officer made contact with school officials and the juvenile, and learned that during the altercation, the juvenile struck two school officials. The juvenile was released into the custody of her parents, pending juvenile court proceedings.

Marion Carroll, 34, 113 Hebert Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 for driving under suspension and speeding. A deputy patrolling the Jeanerette area observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 90 near Pepper Road. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Carroll. During the course of the stop, the deputy also learned that Carroll was operating his vehicle with a suspended license. Carroll was released on a summons to appear in court on February 7, 2018.

Paul Ibert, 56, 701 ½ First Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 9:42 pm on the charge of simple battery.

Roger Sullivan, 55, 4068 Irish Bend Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 9:42 pm on the charges of simple battery and aggravated assault.

A deputy patrolling St. Joseph responded to a residence on Irish Bend Road for a disturbance. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Sullivan was involved in a verbal altercation with another individual, and during the argument, produced a knife. The deputy also learned that Ibert intervened, and was involved in a fistic encounter with Sullivan. Both Ibert and Sullivan were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Ibert was released on a $2,500 bond and Sullivan on a $7,500 bond.

Tashekia Celestine, 38, 1115 Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, LA was arrested on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 3:26 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle traveling on Highway 90 without a visible license plate. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Celestine. Celestine was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Celestine was released on a $5,000 bond.

Steve Scallan Jr., 30, 1530 Highway 90 Lot #112, Patterson, LA was arrested on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 1:48 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple burglary. A deputy patrolling the Patterson area responded to a disturbance, where contact was made with Scallan. The deputy learned that Scallan held active warrants. Scallan was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $8,000.

Frank Adams III, 25, 210 Levee Road, Morgan City, LA was arrested on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 12:18 pm on a warrant for probation violation and a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred on November 8, 2017, where a deputy learned that Adams failed to return a victims vehicle. A deputy made contact with Adams at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Adams was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

William Caskey Sr., 61, 541 Grand Marais Road, Church Point, LA was arrested on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 6:56 pm for careless operation and driving while intoxicated. A deputy travelling on Highway 90 near Siracusa observed a vehicle swerve between lanes at a high rate of speed. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Caskey. The deputy observed Caskey to stumble when stepping out of the vehicle and also smelled a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. The deputy conducted a standardized field sobriety test. Caskey performed poorly. The deputy transported Caskey to the Morgan City Police Department for chemical testing on the Intoxilyzer 9000. Caskey’s blood alcohol content was 0.120 g%. Caskey was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Caskey was released on a $3,000 bond.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Tonya Schouest, 36, 1366 Highway 319, Franklin, LA was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 2:54 pm on a warrant for cultivation of marijuana, obstruction of justice, and use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile. The warrant stems from the September 15, 2017 investigation where narcotics detectives learned of and recovered marijuana plants from the residence occupied by Schouest, at the time of the investigation. Narcotics detectives made contact with Schouest at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Schouest was released on a $1,500 bond.

 

CORRECTIONS SECTION

Ezra Lewis, 27, 3467 Third Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 2:34 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and speeding. Lewis was transported from the Franklin Police Department to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Lewis was released on a $750 bond.

Laquandre Freeman, 21, 500 Ninth Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 2:36 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana and improper lane usage. Freeman was transported from the Franklin Police Department to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $2,250.

Christine Rink, 34, 268 Vivian Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 6:45 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A correctional officer transported Rink to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center from the Assumption Parish Jail for booking. Bail is set at $16,491.86.

Ervin Gant Jr., 49, 146 Kemper Road Lot 1, Franklin, LA was arrested on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 8:29 am on a warrant for failure to notify law enforcement of change of address. Gant was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center from Fort Bend County. No bail is set.
