Arrest Report - November 9, 2017

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Abram Granger, 18, 2428 Apple Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 5:39 pm for possession of marijuana. The K-9 unit assisted patrol with a suspicious vehicle complaint on Sun Road. Through the course of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, learned to be occupied by Granger. The K-9 unit located marijuana in the center console. Granger was released on a summons to appear in court on February 7, 2018.

Jathan Cowart, 34, 3187 Highway 87, Franklin, LA was arrested on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 7:09 pm for the following offenses:

  •       Possession of marijuana
  •       Possession of Schedule II (lortab)
  •       Warrant for cultivation of marijuana, illegal use of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, and obstruction of justice

On September 15, 2017, Cowart contacted narcotics detectives in regards to growing marijuana at his residence. During this investigation, detectives learned that the plants were discarded. Detectives recovered the marijuana plants from a near by bayou, and also learned that there was a child inside of the residence during the time of the investigation. Detectives made contact with Cowart at his residence, in regards to the active warrant. During a search of Cowart’s person, detective’s located marijuana and a half of Lortab pill his pocket. Cowart was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

UNIFORMED PATROL SECTION

Stacy Grubb, 37, 618 Willow Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 9:22 am on two warrants for violation of a protective order. A deputy made contact with Grubb outside of the courthouse, and learned that she held active warrants. Grubb was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Grubb was released on recognizance.

CORRECTIONS DIVISION

Tonia Jenkins, 39, 1265 Mcvey Road, Lineville, AL was arrested on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 4:02 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and operating a vehicle with improper tail lights. Jenkins turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail is set at $1,500.

Gregory Free, 33, 1701 River Road, Berwick, LA was arrested on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 5:48 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and operating an unregistered vehicle. Free turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Free was released on a $1,500 bond.
