According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 42 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Juvenile female, 15, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on September 25, 2014 at 7:14 am for disturbing the peace (fighting).
Naishaylyn Brown, 17, 239 Coulee Street, Lot A Baldwin, LA was arrested on September 25, 2014 at 7:28 am for disturbing the peace (fighting).
A school resource officer assigned to West St. Mary High School observed a fight taking place in the mall of the school. The subjects involved were identified as Brown and the juvenile female. Brown was released on a summons to appear in court on November 24, 2014. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Jeremy L. Housley, 32, 6432 LA Highway 87, Charenton, LA was arrested on September 25, 2014 at 12:59 pm on a warrant for failure to appear for a probation review hearing on the original charge of driving while intoxicated. Housley turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville where he was booked. Housley was later released on a $3,500 bond.
Courtland Fullwood, 26, 1413 First Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on September 25, 2014 at 2:30 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, operating a vehicle without a license, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy conducting a warrants check during booking learned that Fullwood held an active warrant. No bail is set.
Wanda D. Carson, 44, 310 Cedar Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 25, 2014 at 2:57 pm for the following offenses:
- Two warrants for failure to appear for revocation on the charge of issuing worthless checks
- Warrant for failure to appear for trial on the charge of theft of goods
- Warrant for failure to appear for trial on the charge of issuing worthless checks
- Four warrants for eight counts of issuing worthless checks
An Iberia Parish Sheriff’s deputy transported Carson to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants. Bail is set at $23,000.
Louise Alfred, 31, 211 Jones Road #1, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on September 25, 2014 at 4:58 pm for violation of the parish leash law and vicious animals ordinances. A deputy responding to an animal complaint on Jones Road located a Pit Bull attacking another dog. The deputy was able to separate the two animals and located Alfred, the owner of the Pit Bull. The deputy identified a second Pit Bull dog at Alfred’s residence. Neither of the animals was being kept in accordance with parish ordinances and both animals were seized by animal control. Alfred was released on a summons to appear in court on November 24, 2014.
Douglas Frey, 29, 7820 Baymeadows Road Apt. #1036, Jacksonville, FL was arrested on September 26, 2014 at 12:58 am for the following offenses:
- Reckless operation of a vehicle
- Failure to signal a lane change
- Improper lane usage
- Driving under suspension
A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle speeding 67 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone on Highway 182 near the Town of Berwick line. The deputy followed the vehicle and observed the driver travel onto the shoulder of the roadway making a u-turn across both lanes of traffic. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Frey. During the course of the traffic stop investigation, the deputy learned that Frey was driving with a suspended license. The deputy transported Frey to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $2,000.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Joaquima Colbert, 27, 621 Labau Street, Baldwin, LA was arrested on September 25, 2014 at 6:07 pm for the following offenses:
- Failure to signal a turn
- Driving left of center
- Resisting an officer (by flight)
- Warrant from Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on the charges of no seat belt and no valid driver’s license on person
Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division were patrolling the Baldwin area when they observed a vehicle drive in the middle of the roadway and fail to properly signal a turn. Detectives initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to pull over. A Baldwin officer positioned ahead of the vehicle on Martin Luther King Road assisted detectives and the vehicle was brought to a stop without incident. The driver, identified as Colbert, held an outstanding warrant through Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office. Colbert was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
