Arrest Report - May 30, 2017

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the holiday weekend reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 160 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Lenzy McDaniel, 20, 236 Easy Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 28, 2017 at 1:16 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor. On Friday, May 28, 2017 at 12:06 pm, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunshots heard in the 1000 block of Irish Bend Road in Franklin. Deputies stopped a vehicle that was leaving the area and detained several subjects including McDaniel. McDaniel was seated next to a child. While speaking with McDaniel, the deputy smelled the strong odor of marijuana emanating from him. The deputy subsequently located several small bags of marijuana packaged in a manner that is consistent with the street level sale of the drug. The deputy also located $145 in cash suspected of being obtained through the sales of illegal drugs. McDaniel was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. McDaniel was released after posting $8,000 bond. The report of gunshots being heard remains under active investigation.

 

Cherie Couvillier, 30, 122 Big Bear Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 27, 2017 at 12:42 pm for speeding, possession of Schedule V (promethazine), and possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles.

 

Jesse Landry, Sr., 27, 146 Big Bear Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 27, 2017 at 12:42 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

A deputy observed a vehicle traveling 41 miles per hour in a posted 25 miles per hour zone on Irish Bend Road in Franklin. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Couvillier, and a passenger, Landry. The deputy smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The deputy contacted the Franklin Police K-9 Unit to assist with the traffic stop. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located an open bottle of liquor and Styrofoam cups containing promethazine. The Franklin Police officer located 2 marijuana cigars and rolling papers on Landry, ’s person. Both Couvillier and Landry were released on

summonses to appear in court on August 8, 2017.

 

Stephen Boyd, Jr., 28, 541 Ratcliff Lane, Ricohoc, LA was arrested on May 27, 2017 at 8:34 am for criminal trespass. A deputy responded to a report of trespassing on a property off Highway 182 in the Patterson area. The deputy located Boyd on private property. Boyd was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.

 

Scotty Adkins, 45, 501 Roderick Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 27, 2017 at 7:44 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, operating a vehicle with an expired driver’s license, failure to carry registration, operating a vehicle without proof of insurance, and failure to honor written promise to appear. During booking at the St. Mary parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for Adkins’ arrest. No bail is set.

 

Brian Polk, 44, 1130 Highway 83, Lot #1, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 28, 2017 at 2:14 pm for domestic abuse battery. A deputy investigating a report of domestic abuse in the Franklin area collected evidence that Polk grabbed a female victim and pushed her to the floor of a residence. Polk was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Polk was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

Louis Dumesnil, 49, 123 Oakwood Drive, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 29, 2017 at 2:49 pm for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. A deputy working a vehicle crash scene on Highway 87 in the Franklin area found that the driver of the vehicle, Dumesnil, had a suspended license. Dumesnil was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.

 

Monique Hebert, 35, 1025 Highway 307, Thibodaux, LA was arrested on May 29, 2017 at 7:37 pm for disturbing the peace (fighting).

 

Karmin Smith, 28, 31531 Linder Street, Denham Springs, LA was arrested on May 29, 2017 at 7:37 pm for disturbing the peace (fighting).

 

A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a location on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. The deputy found evidence that Hebert and Smith were involved in an argument that escalated into a fight. Both Hebert and Smith were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Smith’s bond is set at $1,000. Hebert was released on a $1,000 bond.

 

 

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that the Narcotics Section made the following arrests:

  

Peter Roberts, 41, 4200 Pharr Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on May 26, 2017 at 5:25 pm for the following offenses:

  • Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine)
  • Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax)
  • Possession of a Legend Drug (gabapentin) without a prescription
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor

Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section stopped a vehicle on US Highway 90 in Morgan City for committing a traffic violation. Detectives observed a passenger, later identified as Roberts, attempting to conceal an item in bag. Detectives received consent to search the bag and located methamphetamine and 2 pipes used to smoke methamphetamine. Continuing the investigation, detectives also found a pill bottle containing Xanax, gabapentin, and a piece of crack cocaine. 2 juveniles were in the vehicle at the time of the investigation. Roberts was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
