Arrest Report - May 15, 2017

 

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 143 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

David Gomez-Morales, 37, 316 North Canal Boulevard, Thibodaux, LA was arrested on May 12, 2017 at 9:27 pm for the following offenses:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
  • Driver must be licensed
  • Possession of (open) alcoholic container in motor vehicles
  • Careless operation of a motor vehicle
  • Public intimidation     

A deputy responded to a single vehicle crash on US Highway 90 in the Amelia area. The deputy observed a vehicle in the tree line near the highway and located the driver who was being attended by firefighting personnel. The deputy identified the driver as Morales and found that he was operating the vehicle without a driver’s license. The deputy also located an open bottle of beer inside the vehicle. Morales was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he registered a 0.278g% blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. While at the MCPD, Morales made threats against an officer. Morales was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

Paris Durkins, 30, 602 Egle Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 14, 2017 at 8:13 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy spoke with store security personnel and learned that Durkins took items from the store and then attempted to return them for a refund without having paid for the goods. Durkins was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.

Linda Lange, 53, 2112 Hebert Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 14, 2017 at 3:25 pm on a warrant for violation of protective orders. While responding to a separate complaint, a deputy encountered Lange and located the active warrant for her arrest. The warrant was issued following a report that Lange contacted the victim by telephone in violation of the court order. Lange was transported to the St. Mary parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

Richard Darby, 30, 107 Lucy Lane, Centerville, LA was arrested on May 14, 2017 at 5:44 pm for domestic abuse battery (child endangerment law). A deputy responded to a report of domestic abuse at a residence in Centerville. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Darby struck a female victim in the face with 3 children present. Darby was transported to the St. Mary parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Darby was released on a $3,500 bond.

Alonia Sherron, 48, 506 Carl C. Foulcard Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 14, 2017 at 2:13 am on a Franklin Police Department warrant for shoplifting. A deputy observed a vehicle parked on the side of Yokley Road in Franklin with its hazard lights on. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Sherron, and located the active warrant for her arrest. Sherron was transported to the St. Mary parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. She was released on a $1,500 bond.

Nadia Verdin, 40, 5019 Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 13, 2017 at 12:03 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. A deputy encountered Verdin on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista and found that she was wanted on the active warrant. Verdin was transported to the St. Mary parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that the Narcotics Section made the following arrests: 

 

Joseph Darby, Sr., 35, 618 Anderson Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 12, 2017 at 4:47 pm for the following offenses:

  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of Schedule I (MDMA) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids (with intent to distribute)
  • Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor

Clyde Darby, Jr., 30, 131 Sunset Drive, Lafayette, LA was arrested on May 12, 2017 at 4:47 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, obstruction of justice, and resisting an officer.

Dwayne Freedman, 42, Martin Luther King Boulevard, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on May 12, 2017 at 4:16 pm for possession of Schedule I (synthetic cannabinoids) and possession of drug paraphernalia.Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section conducted a search warrant at a residence on Anderson Street in Franklin. When they entered the location, detectives observed C. Darby attempting to conceal a large bag of marijuana in his pants. Detectives also observed bags of synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia next to Freedman. Detectives located MDMA pills and other marijuana and synthetic marijuana inside the residence and found evidence that the drugs belonged to J. Darby. The residence where the drugs were found is within 2000 feet of a church and school. Freedman was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017. J. Darby and C. Darby were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

Dedrick Gant, Jr., 32, 1400 Ibert Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on May 12, 2017 at 8:38 pm for the following offenses:

  • Resisting an officer
  • Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax)
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse batter (strangulation) (child endangerment law)
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery  

Narcotics detectives patrolling Morgan City observed a vehicle driving recklessly and conducted a traffic stop on Martin Luther King Boulevard. During the stop, a passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the subject was detained. Detectives identified the subject as Gant and located a Xanax pills that he had discarded as he fled. The investigation occurred within 2,000 feet of a church. Gant was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
