Sheriff's Sale

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office conducts two types of sales, the Sheriff's Sales and tax sales.

Sheriff’s sales typically occur on a weekly basis on Wednesdays at 10:00 am at the front door of the Parish Courthouse located at 500 Main Street in Franklin. Sales consist of properties (land, homes, vehicles, etc.) seized by order of a judge and sold to recoup a certain amount of debt. Lists of properties for sale can be obtained at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office located on the 4th floor of the parish courthouse. Questions regarding the sales should be directed to that office at 337-828-6979.

The tax sales occurr annually for unpaid property taxes. If property taxes are not paid by December 31st of each year, the taxes are considered delinquent. If the taxes are not paid prior to the tax sale date, the property will be sold to recoup taxes owed.
