In 2013, berm work and other general maintenance projects were completed at the range including the installation of archery lanes. New signs were also added making the range easier to locate. In 2014, wireless remotes were added to the skeet throwers doing away with the need for individual cables.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Shooting Range is open to the public. Hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Thursday-Saturday. The range is subject to periodic closures for law enforcement training. Visitors are encouraged to call 337-350-0086 before making a trip. There are no costs or fees to use the range.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Shooting Range is located off the Hwy. 90 service road on Black Bear Lane in the Centerville-Franklin area. From the west take the service road under the Hwy. 90 overpass at Chatsworth Rd. and Willow St. The range is on the right. From the east, take Hwy. 317, cross the railroad tracks, turn right onto Alice C Rd, and left onto the service road. The range is on your left.
