Term: 1964-1984

Sheriff Chester C. Baudoin served the office for 20 years from 1964 to 1984. In the hearts and minds of many parish residents, the memory of his service and the alligator boots he wore is still very much alive. After serving as a pilot in World War II, Baudoin took an interest in law enforcement and joined the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1952. He served as Chief Deputy under Sheriff J.B. “Buck” Shaw. Following Shaw’s death, Baudoin successfully won the Sheriff’s election in 1964. His campaign song lyrics read, “Our sheriff’s office rated top in all the land today…efficient personnel to serve you all along the way.”
